Community Highlights: Meet Zuleyca Pacheco of Lunar Estheticz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zuleyca Pacheco

Hi Zuleyca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was working my 9-5 as a mortgage loan officer assistant where I had been for the past 5 years (at the time) and after covid the market changed, rates and house prices went up and business was down. I had days at work were I was bored, and I thought to myself “I know I’m meant for more”. Beauty was something I had always wanted to pursue but graduating high school my mom said “you can always go back to beauty school, the chances of you going back to college are slim, so you have to go to college first.” I listened, I went to school, I got the job but I saw my opportunity to finally go back to beauty school during our slow season, so I took it. I started school in October of 2022 and graduated August of 2023 from Bridgerland Technical College with my license as a master esthetician. I worked and went to school part time for 11 months and while at school we were constantly told that starting off at a salon would help us gain clientele, but I knew that wasn’t going to be an option for me. I still planned to work for the mortgage company so I could continue to get health insurance for myself and my son which meant weekends were going to work best for my business. 2 months before graduating I put a deposit on a suite I found online and started my own business alongside a friend I met in estie school, and we’ve been open now since October 2023. As a new esthetician I marketed myself to friends and family, I made referral cards with $10 discounts, I posted discounted services if I wanted to fill up my days and started gaining some momentum that way. I continue to work 7 days a week Monday -Thursday doing loans and Friday- Sundays as an esthetician, but I absolutely love and look forward to my weekends with my clients.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been really good, I would say one of my greatest struggles was the starting costs of a business as I had never done anything like this before and applying for all the multiple licenses you need to have to start a business as well as creating/posting content to market my business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am known for and specialize in lash extensions but offer a variety of services such as brow & lash laminations/tints, Facials, chemical peels, microneedling, hot stone therapy, back facials, and waxing, I have started my own lash brand as well and hope to some day teach lash classes. I would like your readers to know that at Lunar Estheticz they have a friend who they can either talk to or fall asleep with while getting pampered. It is my absolute joy to help them feel beautiful, relaxed, and at peace.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I would like to continue my education and start a salon in the next 5 years. I’d like to have a space where I can hold lash trainings as well as guest trainers to help with continued education for myself and my crew.
