Conversations with Brenda Battista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Battista.

Hi Brenda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I am used to the cold weather and snow days that Southern Utah offers. I moved to the USA in 2004 with a cosmetic line developed to help people with facial differences. I landed in Orange County, California, and hit the ground running. As I spearheaded this brand, I realized that what kept me engaged and passionate was that I was helping people feel better about themselves. As I look back on my career, two things stand out: I love working with people and am passionate about helping others.

In 2010, I moved to Fallbrook, California, where I met my now husband. We lived together in Oceanside, California, for a couple of years before he interviewed for and accepted a position at the Best Friends Animal Society. in Kanab, Utah. Since Utah doesn’t have much of a cosmetic scene, I would have to give up my career and reinvent myself.

We bought a lovely home in Kanab on 2.3 acres with a small guest home. It was the perfect home for us and our three dogs. The chicken would come later! Initially, I spent time getting our house in California rented. Eventually, both the guest house in Kanab and our house in Oceanside became lovely Vacation Rentals. It took a while to get them both situated and dialed in. I love being a host and am very proud of what we offer our guests.

Real estate had always been on my radar, and I had not yet pursued it for some reason. Finally, during Covid, I decided to hunker down and get my license. It had been years since I studied for anything, and I am proud to say that in January 2021, I passed the test.

To my surprise, I found myself in a career helping others with their wealth through real estate. It’s been a welcome change and a wonderful experience for me. In the last year, our brokerage became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Utah Properties. This brand is aligned with my values because of its integrity, inclusivity, and poise. I’ve been awarded the President’s Circle for 2022. A special thank you to all my previous clients for choosing me to represent them!

What I’ve learned about myself is that I’m successful if I’m helping others in some capacity.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Becoming a new real estate agent can be challenging, as several obstacles exist.

1. Building a client base from scratch: As a new agent, you have to start from scratch when it comes to building a client base. You must learn to market yourself effectively and build relationships with potential clients.

2. Understanding the market: Real estate is constantly changing and staying up-to-date with current trends and regulations.

3. Handling rejection: Real estate is a competitive industry, and rejection is common. I’ve learned how to handle rejection and bounce back quickly.

4. Balancing work and personal life: Real estate requires long hours and weekends. Finding the balance has been key for me.

Despite these challenges, I’ve become a successful real estate agent with hard work and dedication.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a real estate agent, my primary focus is helping people buy or sell real property. My passion for helping people realize their dreams through real estate sets me apart from others in the industry.

I work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences and use my market knowledge to find properties that meet their requirements. Whether they are looking for their dream home or want to sell their current property for the best price, I provide expert guidance and support throughout the process.

My attention to detail, communication skills, and dedication to my clients are some qualities that set me apart from other real estate agents. I genuinely care about my clients and want to help them achieve their goals, which has led to many successful transactions and happy clients.

My commitment to excellence and client satisfaction makes me a valuable asset to the real estate industry.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
As a kid, there was nothing quite like spending time outside. I could spend endless hours wandering the trails and woods near my house in Pickering Ontario, exploring every nook and cranny of the natural world around me. It was an adventure every time we kids set out, always uncovering something new and exciting.

Those childhood memories of exploring the great outdoors remain some of my fondest to this day. They helped instill a love of nature and a sense of adventure that has stayed with me throughout my life. That is one of the main reasons I feel right at home here in Southern Utah; I know that there will always be a wild and beautiful world waiting just beyond our doorstep.
