Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Wood.
Hi Brittany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in Utah, I am honored to be your 2026 Mrs Utah America! It’s a role that represents so much more than a title, and there have been so many steps that led me to this journey, now competing for Mrs America in August.
As a child, my life was forever changed when my father took his life, after years of mental health crisises. Our home was turbulent and impacted by his mood swings and instability, but I was blessed to have a mother who was strong and resilient, who rebuilt our lives and forever changed our future.
That experience shaped my purpose and passion, and lead me to find ways that I could be a support for women like my mother, facing impossible situations and rising above the challenges. That became the foundation for my service work and led me to compete for Mrs Utah America. I knew through this organization that I could make a difference for many families and raise awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence. I’m honored to have this position and proud to be taking my story nationwide through Mrs America this fall.
Professionally, I’m proud of, and grateful for, the career I’ve built. I studied Business Management at Utah Valley University and have been working in business and marketing since 2017. Today I serve as the Marketing Director for Frontline Pest Control, a $30M+ Pest Control industry leader, having recently been named #44 on the Top 100 Pest Control Companies in the United States. I was formerly the 2016 Utah DECA President and feel so passionate about empowering youth to pursue business and entrepreneurship! The steps I took in my earlier years lead me to a great career and given the ever-changing landscape of the internet and digital tools, I recommend all youth to pursue their passions early and learn as much as they possibly can. More importantly, learn how to learn. Learn to solve problems and be adaptable.
My greatest joy in life is my family! My husband, Jordan (business owner of West Peak Roofing in Utah), and I have been married for 8 years and have three amazing children, ages 2, 5, and 6. Being their mom is my favorite role I hold, and I’m grateful for every moment of this season of life. Between raising three young children, my husband running his business, my work and advocacy, and our family adventures, life is certainly busy and a little chaotic. But we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Certainly not! There have been so many twists and turns in my journey.
Growing up in the environment I did was one of my early challenges in life. A home impacted by domestic violence and an unstable parent can be devastating. I truly feel so grateful for my mother and her strength to experience that all and still rise above to create a safe, loving home for her 4 children beyond the trauma we all faced. Though it was very challenging, I am grateful for the growth I saw within myself as well through that experience. I can now understand others facing similar situations in an entirely new light and feel grateful for the empathy that came from that.
As my husband and I have been raising our young family and shaping our futures, we have tried, failed, succeeded and everything in between! We’ve lived in Utah, Maryland, Utah again, Texas, back to Utah, Hawaii, and back to Utah again; all on the journey to find our home. We’re so happy to be settled here in Utah and to have established careers we both love.
And on the pageantry side of things, I was formerly Miss American Fork in 2017, but met my husband a few months into my reign and decided to marry him and give up my ‘Miss’ title! I then heard about the Mrs. America organization celebrating and uplifiting married women through watching Hannah Neeleman (Ballerina Farms), who was a former Mrs. Utah America that later went on to become Mrs. American. I competed for Mrs. Utah America in 2024 as Mrs. Lehi and was a Top Finalist, then came back in 2026 to be crowned Mrs Utah America. It was a journey that required dedication and willingness to grow. I’m grateful for every moment!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As Mrs Utah America, I am an advocate for so many incredible causes! First and foremost, I am working to support survivors of domestic violence, as that is something I’ve experience firsthand and had to grow through. Utah has fantastic resources surrounding survivor support, but there can be a barrier in distributing these resources. My goal through Mrs. Utah America is to ensure survivors know where to go when they need support. I’ve created a website with these resources, MrsUtah.org.
Another cause I am proud to champion through this program is uplifting married women of Utah and of America! This experience has taught me how important self-care is as a wife and mother. As you try to juggle the tasks of everyday, prioritizing taking care of yourself and your mental health will allow you to show up better for those around you. It’s never selfish to take care of your own needs and I encourage women in every stage and season of life to pursue their passions, surround themselves with uplifting women, and take time for yourself.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
While I’d say I’m fairly risk-adverse when it comes to adventure, I do think great opportunities in life require taking risks! Stepping into pageantry was a risk for me, as it requires you to be vulnerable and put yourself in challenging situations to better yourself. But it’s lead to me to the most incredible experiences and opportunities.
Moving across the country several times came with risks, but brought amazing people and experiences into our lives. As did every job and new home we lived in.
When it comes to taking risks, I’d say the most important thing is to recognize that every move is a step on the journey, and that no step is wrong. Even if you end up changing paths or making a different decision down the road, every step was part of the journey.
