Conversations with Denis Becovic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denis Becovic.

Hi Denis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I always wanted to do something more with my life not just work a 9-5 daily and live paycheck to paycheck as I was already painting houses with my dad. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and open a painting company (since it was something I already knew how to do) went to school, took the test, and opened my company in December 2009.

A few years passed I also took up Rollerskating… as I was building my business I was also learning to skate. Fast forward to the present day- my business DABS Painting Inc. Is doing really well I have guys running the jobs and also one of the best roller skaters in Utah as I’m part of 2 amazing groups (millcreekcommon and skatersclub.co) where I help teach skate lessons.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle was when I started my business. I had debt from opening my business and things I needed to pay but no one wants to trust a start-up business, especially in the construction industry till you earn the trust and people see the quality of work that you do. It took me a year for companies to even start to consider me as their option as a painter.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We do paint interior and exterior on commercial, residential, and custom homes. We have done so many custom jobs and amazing features to name them all but one particular one that we are really proud of is Evermore park In the pleasant grove, Utah from amazing stains to custom cuts on posts to make them look distressed and old.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be waiting on my dad to get home from work late at night to help me learn how to ride a bicycle. I remember him holding the seat as he ran behind me as I peddled down the street.
