Conversations with Elise White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elise White.

Hi Elise, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi there. My name is Elise, the creator behind Elise’s Pieces Art.

I fell in love with art at a young age during preschool. We colored when learning the alphabet, made cards during the holidays, and did fun crafts as well. I loved the feeling of seeing something take shape and color. The satisfaction of seeing something completed. I doodled over the years while in school and college. Hours can pass when I am into it. I love learning and trying different mediums, like glassblowing, calligraphy, and digital design apps like Procreate.

A genre that changed my headspace was visionary art. Art that was dreamy and otherworldly, yet real and in front of me. Peaceful – almost moving and breathing – imagery with mantras or lessons to ease human suffering. I generally like to create art that uplifts the soul, and inspires a sense of awe and beauty. I have been drawing sacred geometry since 2015.

For the past year and half, I have done vending and live painting at different local music shows. I also began teaching my art class, ‘Spiral into Sacred Geometry.’ I taught this locally, as well as at major music festival, Lightning in a Bottle, in California.

My creative goal is to create a sphere of strengths that build upon each other: painting at live events, teaching classes, hosting an online art shop, and collaborating with artists and communities. I am building my portfolio to start to studying the art of tattooing soon. I hope to bring my colorful pieces to life in a new way!

As for the rest of 2022, I am excited to host my sacred geometry class again this fall/winter! Stay tuned to my Instagram or Facebook art pages! Thanks for taking a moment to read about my journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Art has been a journey with ups and downs. I have learned to be kind to myself. I am not a robot. I do best when I am present, accepting, and open with my journey. When I am authentic, I create from within. The more genuine I am, the more genuine connections I experience as a result. I am also reminding myself that as long as I learn from my challenges, I can move forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have an array of diverse work experiences in my background. I grew up operating heavy equipment on my dad’s properties that he developed. I went to college for education, to teach history and social studies. I worked different call center jobs. When I moved to California for a few years, I worked at a cannabis dispensary, and also a county library system. I loved both jobs. Since moving to Utah, I have had more IT roles. I am excellent at researching and finding resources for any topic. I use that to my advantage. What I do not know, I look up!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
For me, luck is neither ‘good’ nor ‘bad.’ Life gives us experiences, lessons, that are needed to learn and grow. Some lessons are fun, while others can be a little more uncomfortable. It’s all about noticing.
