Today we’d like to introduce you to Ganel-Lyn Condie.
Hi Ganel-Lyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a motivational speaker – known my unique honesty, authenticity, and spirit. I am dedicated to my family, faith, and inspiring others. I have a teaching degree and love teaching others with speaking and writing. I have experienced healing from a major chronic illness, systemic lupus, and am the mother to two miracle children. After the heart-breaking suicide of my 40-year-old sister, Meggan, I am constantly working towards prevention. I live with an open heart and feel passionate about sharing principles that will empower others to live life with more joy. I am a regular television/radio guest and host the popular shows TALK OF HIM (formerly REAL TALK CFM) and THE MIDDLE. As an author of 13 books and after speaking at over 6ooo events all over the world I focus on continual learning and loving.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From infertility, unemployment, battling lupus for nearly thirty years, to the suicide of my sister I have faced some hard things. When I tried to get my first book published, it was rejected a couple of times. I honestly almost gave up on ever publishing. But I felt determined to share authentic and vulnerable stories with the goal of giving hope to readers. After the loss of my sister, I was able to include her story in my first book and see clearly the power of waiting to publish. Looking back, I had no idea that there would be so many books, speaking events, and media opportunities in my future. The cycle of hitting bumps in the road, re-focusing, pivoting and trying again has proven to be a cycle of growth. Each time I have encountered discouragement or distraction – I have learned something about me, about my mission, and about resiliency.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
There are great networking opportunities on social media. Joining professional groups, and volunteering with organizations that have similar values, goals, and vision. Follow others on social media that work in the space you are trying to.
