Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregorio Avila.
Hi Gregorio, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Venezuela, I have always liked television, theater, and animation. Since I was a child I asked my parents to take me to television castings. My family supported me from an early age.
In Venezuela, I got my Bachelor’s degree in social communication, mention of audiovisual. I started my career in radio, then I had the opportunity to start my own TV program called “El Show de Gregorio”.
Then I did a stand-up comedy, “Looking for Gregorio” with presentations in Venezuela and Panama.
Six years ago, I fled my country due to the political situation, I had to start from scratch and learn a new language. I was on a TV program “Chic Al Día” on EVTV Miami.
I am currently a Menfashion and Lifestyle Influencer and the TV Host for Latino Utah, a media and entertainment outlet that highlights the best of Utah and its Latino community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every person’s career has ups and downs, there have been moments of planting and harvesting, and I treasure each experience lived.
The hardest part of my career has been fleeing the political situation in my country and coming to the United States, leaving my family, my professional future, and starting from scratch in a different culture.
We are still thousands of kilometers away and I only talk to my family on a screen, that has been a perennial feeling, it does not go away. But as I said before, I am grateful for living in a country full of possibilities and for having the opportunity to work in what I love the most.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am dedicated to communication, I am currently the TV Host of Latino Utah, the news and entertainment portal that highlights the best of the Latino community in Utah.
I am known for being extroverted, and my journalistic work is about that, entertaining people.
People say that I have charisma and that they like my jocular personality a lot. I love making people laugh with my jokes.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about Utah are the sunsets, seeing the mountains, and connecting with nature. Utah has some amazing scenery.
What I like least about Utah is its deteriorated roads, and I am very concerned about the situation of the Homeless downtown, since I see their number increasing every time, and the authorities should manage this situation, to help these in some way these people, and to keep the city in order.
