Conversations with Jenica Parcell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenica Parcell.

Hi Jenica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started A Slice of Style back in 2014. I started it because I wanted to go from working as a sales account executive for a software company to working from home full-time once I had a baby. My husband and I assumed it would be easy for us to have a baby.

Fast forward a year and we didn’t get pregnant. I felt like I was living a double life by not sharing our infertility experience because everything seemed normal. I was sharing about affordable fashion, recipes, and other things. I felt compelled after doing 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed rounds of IVF to share the story on my blog, https://asliceofstyle.com/.

After I had a miscarriage on an airplane to China after our second failed transfer, I was blown away by how common infertility was, which I was completely unaware of at the time. I had people reaching out from everywhere saying, “thank you so much for publishing this post, it makes me feel less alone”.

During our third round of IVF, I decided to write letters to our future child and publish them on my blog and I took my readers with me on the journey. I was able to switch doctors and we were able to transfer two embryos which resulted in our now, 6.5-year-old twins. I have been an advocate for women with infertility ever since.

I am now a certified life coach and have specialized training in trauma-informed therapy as well as emotional intelligence alongside the mindset coaching I offer. Coaching is a powerful tool to help these women with infertility get through and be able to process their emotions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the obstacles and challenges in my work would be balancing my infertility treatments and my journey with being a support to other women. I’ve been able to do that by hiring other incredible women to fill in the gaps so that I can show up as the best coach that I can be.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a coach for women with infertility and something that sets me apart is that I experienced infertility myself. I have gotten through it and throughout it, as well as after it, I have lived an abundant happy life.

I don’t have one prescription for each individual. When I work with my clients, I have a way for them to discover the answers themselves because every single human being is uniquely different and will have different ways in which they will be able to create solutions in their lives. I use science, a formula, and specific tools to help them discover the ways to help themselves create their bold full lives.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Some lessons I have learned are that we need each other and that all women need people who have been where they are currently to help them see the light and see the path through. There is something to benefit us in every situation that we don’t necessarily like or would choose for ourselves, but we can always gain experience and use those experiences for our good and the good of our future.
