Conversations with Jessica Carranza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Carranza.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Jessica, but people know me as la China. I’m originally from lima-Peru. I went to Timpanogos high school, where I was very involved in our Latino community. I was part of Latinos in Action, I used to be part of the newspaper team where I had a column specifically to write about our Latin culture. Since I love to dance and try new things, I remembered taking a Ballroom class and joining the Ballroom team at my high school and eventually joining it at UVU.

I went to Utah Valley University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work. Ever since high school, I always like to be involved. At UVU I was the Vice-president of this club called All Around the world, where we motivated students from different backgrounds to engage in our community.

Learning another language and getting out of your comfort zone its being challenging but rewarding for me.

I considered myself to be a positive person, especially with my loved ones because I feel that our mind has a very powerful influence on us. So, If I have an idea or a vision, I will work on it to make it happen.

Even though I have a degree, I’m not currently working on it since I became a mom and have my husband’s support, I decided to stay home and take care of my kid. But that doesn’t stop me from making an income and becoming an entrepreneur.

I have an online boutique and I’m part of Monat where I get to earn an income by sharing the products I daily use. But besides being a mom and an entrepreneur I’m Currently working on other goals. I feel that there is always opportunities We just need the motivation to accomplish them.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Coming to another country, learning another language, and experiencing difficult times like the death of my little brother who I called my lil angel is being hard, but I’m beyond blessed to always have my family with me supporting me and teaching me to never give up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a little of everything. I do some promotions; I have an online boutique where I sell clothes for women and joggers for men. I’m part of Monat where it stands for Modern Nature. We have our community where we help and motivate other women to leave their comfort zone and invest in themselves. We also sell and promote our natural, cruelty-free products.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I just want to say that we should empower each other, especially us women. And always believe in ourselves and to not let anyone bring us down. Lets try to always have a positive mindset between ourselves.
