Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Parks.
Hi Lacey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I am a native of Utah and have lived in the Utah County area most of my life. I’m married to an amazing man, have four incredible children of my own, and together we have 10. I enjoy being active outdoors and love to hike and road bike. We regularly take the RV and explore. So far, we have camped in Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Washington and Oregon, with trips into Colorado and Wyoming. Now that international destinations are starting to open up, I look forward to seeing more of the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?Overcoming challenges seems to be a theme in my life. I was born with a heart defect that required multiple procedures and open heart surgery at an early age. In my teenage years I developed scoliosis that eventually required corrective surgery and I now have two titanium rods and nineteen screws in my back. I started esthetics school just weeks after my surgery and honestly, it’s a roller coaster. Some days are downright exhausting while other days are exhilarating. Having a supportive husband and family help put the bad days aside and press forward.
In 2013, when I first started The Skin Loft, I lived on top of South Mountain in Suncrest, so winters were a little scary for my clients making the drive up on stormy days. Since then, I’ve had a couple of moves, each bringing new challenges, both business and personal. At the end of the day, I have clients who expect me to show up, provide the best services possible, and be present for them. I can honestly say that I have the BEST clients in the world. Whether following me through crazy weather, moving cities, finding myself working from my living room in a new townhome as a single mom, my clients have always been there for me. I’m now blessed with a home that fits my business and client needs perfectly and am loving it.
One goal I set from the beginning was to retail a skincare line I believe in whole-heartedly. I have always had a strong eyelash extension clientele, however over the last few years my clients love that I offer a full range of skincare services. I am tickled that after much effort and as a solo esthetician, I am able to carry Eminence Organic Skincare in-house.
One of my core business principles has been to push forward to create professionalism no matter what. Fostering an experience that the client is comfortable with and memorable is key. To accomplish this, I introduced my exclusive Skincare Club. The Skincare Club offers members the Facial of the Month at a discounted rate. I have thoughtfully designed each facial to alternate between protocols, where every client benefits, no matter their skin type. This removes the guesswork of which facial is needed to keep healthy, vibrant-looking skin.
No matter how many years you’ve been in business, or how much experience you have, life enjoys throwing curveballs your way. At this point, I can look back and say, hard work and perseverance has enabled me to be where I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I strongly believe beauty should appear natural and effortless. My favorite compliment is when my clients relay that friends and family ask if they have eyelash extensions or if those are their natural lashes. The same with skincare. Creating beauty with proper skin care isn’t difficult, it’s forming new habits through discipline that keeps skin healthy.
This is the standard I have set for The Skin Loft, not making things appear “overdone”. We are all beautiful! How can we emphasize what we’ve been blessed with? Simplicity is key. I look at treatments and techniques that draw out your natural beauty.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I have two older sisters whom I emulated, but my brother is my closest sibling, being 2 years older. We were always hanging out, or I was always tagging along, depending on who you ask. Being the athlete he was, I knew I had to play sports (baseball & basketball) to get his attention and I learned a lot from those years. It wasn’t just playing in the back yard or spending time together that left the impression though, but rather his tenderness. My brother was very encouraging and celebrated my wins with me. Thinking back, he didn’t play at his level, rather, he played at mine and I felt invincible.
One experience that has influenced my life since; I remember one particular summer day the two of us were playing baseball and I hit two “home runs” in a row. Ever since then “2” has been my favorite number. My brother definitely gave me the boost I needed to feel like, no matter the situation, I “can”.
