Conversations with Luna Dominguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luna Dominguez

Hi Luna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a little girl, I always thought creativity. My Mother was a huge inspiration to me to think outside the box. She was very into photography. And my older sister was an artist. She got me into anime with was the beginning stepping stones of how i ended up drawing everyday.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It had its challenges. I had times where I lived in my car and took on spontaneous trips around the country tattooing in different states without a fixed address. I met some incredible people while I was on tour doing tattoo conventions. I had times were I shared a hotel room with 5 different tattoo artist and I was the only girl. I did get bullied a lot. One time an artist put Aquaphor inside my shoes. So when I stepped inside it had the worst feeling ever! But I never let the hazing get to me. I continued to work on my art and booking clients. I always tell people that I am a creative by heart. I like to express myself in anyway I can. Whether that’s tattoos, modeling, or photography. I’ll try everything once.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My tattoo style is Linework And I love Blackwork. I can do color too! It just depends on what my clients needs are. I love to tap into my favorite childhood memories when it comes into creating artwork. I really like creating artwork that is abstract and lucid. I’ve always had vivid dreams so sometimes I even create something that I dreamt of. I decided to go back to school to major in Digital Media. So I can take my artistic skills and challenge them more in the film and photography industry.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think that if there is an artist that truly inspires you. Never be afraid to reach out to them. If anything usually they are pretty flattered and humble. You can always ask for feedback with your own work if they have time and just keep constant support you can always let them know that if they need any help you have the time to step in.
