Today we’d like to introduce you to Macie Naegle
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My photography journey began when I was just 8 years old, playing around with my mom’s point-and-shoot camera. Even at that young age, I was fascinated by the ability to capture moments and create something lasting. By the time I turned 15, my passion had grown, and I received my first camera, which marked the beginning of a more serious commitment to photography. I started taking pictures for friends and family, and as word spread, what began as a hobby quickly turned into something much bigger. From there, my love for photography only deepened, and I’ve been dedicated to honing my craft and sharing my vision with others ever since.
In high school, serving as a student body officer and managing my school’s Instagram account played a significant role in deepening my passion for photography. Being entrusted with capturing and sharing moments from school events not only honed my technical skills but also gave me a sense of responsibility and pride in how those moments were presented to the student body. It was powerful to me how in one click I felt like I was capturing an entire world.Taking pictures of my student body at school events was an experience that truly brought my love for photography to life. Every event was filled with energy, excitement, and emotion, and I made it my mission to capture those feelings through my lens. Whether it was the thrill of a big game, the joy of a school dance, or the pride at a pep rally, I could feel the emotions in every shot I took. It was powerful to see how those moments, frozen in time, could convey the spirit and camaraderie of our school. Being able to document these memories not only deepened my connection to my classmates but also showed me the profound impact that photography can have in preserving and sharing those fleeting, yet meaningful, moments.
My journey as a photographer has been deeply intertwined with my personal growth. Over the years, I’ve evolved not only in my technical skills but also in my understanding of the stories I want to tell through my work. Photography has taught me to see the world from different perspectives, to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments, and to connect with people on a deeper level. As I’ve grown, so has my confidence in my creative vision, which has been crucial in bringing my brand to life. Developing my brand has been about more than just building a business; it’s been about expressing who I am and what I stand for. It’s a reflection of my journey, my values, and the relationships I’ve built along the way. This growth has empowered me to create a brand that resonates with my clients and truly represents the passion I have for capturing life’s most meaningful moments.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building my photography brand and growing as a photographer has been challenging, requiring constant dedication, creativity, and perseverance to overcome obstacles and continue evolving.
As a photographer, comparison can be particularly challenging because the art form is deeply subjective and personal. Each photographer brings their unique perspective, style, and emotional connection to their work, making it difficult to measure success by the same standards as others. The vast array of techniques, equipment, and editing styles means that no two photographers produce the same results, even when capturing the same subject. Constantly comparing your work to that of others can lead to self-doubt, creative blocks, and a skewed perception of your own progress and talent. Moreover, the pressure to meet industry standards or trends can overshadow the joy and authenticity of your creative expression, making it hard to appreciate your own growth and achievements.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Northern Utah based photographer who specializes in seniors, missionary, family, and wedding photography. I love love love what I get to do.
My photography brand is deeply focused on client experience and building lasting friendships, ensuring that every session feels personal, comfortable, and memorable. Building strong, personal connections with my clients is a key part of my approach. I make it a priority to genuinely listen to their needs and understand their vision, which helps establish trust and rapport. I go beyond just providing a service; I take the time to get to know them on a personal level, sharing in their excitement and milestones. This often leads to friendships that last long after the project is completed. I ensure they feel valued by being attentive, responsive, and by delivering work that reflects not only their expectations but also the care and effort I’ve put into understanding what matters most to them. This personalized, relationship-focused approach makes my clients feel appreciated and confident in our partnership.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My 4 sisters and parents are my greatest cheerleaders. They have each been there for me in every single step of the way to get where I am today. Me and my business would ultimately be nothing without my family. They are incredible people and I want to share at least a fraction of the goodness I have learned from each of them with my clients. My parents and four sisters have been my biggest supporters in growing my photography business. They’ve always encouraged me to pursue my passion and have been there every step of the way, offering advice, helping with projects, and spreading the word about my work. Their belief in me has been a constant source of motivation, making all the difference in how I got to where I am today.
My clients have been more than just customers; they’ve become some of my closest friends and biggest supporters. Working with them has been a rewarding experience, as we’ve built relationships based on trust, shared experiences, and a mutual appreciation for the art of photography. Their encouragement and belief in my work have motivated me to push my creative boundaries and grow as an artist. I’m grateful for the connections we’ve made, as they’ve played a significant role in both my personal and professional journey. Each kind message, inquiry, or tag goes a very long way. My heart is so entirely full of love for my clients.
