Conversations with Madison Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Brown.

Hi Madison, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back in 2020, I couldn’t find a job in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. I stumbled upon Upwork and got my first gig as a Virtual Assistant. Soon after, I continued to get clients to manage their social media accounts and began creating content for them.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that I LOVE creating beautiful content for business owners and brands, and I wanted to take it a step further. In 2021, I decided to start my product photography business and have loved every second of it.

I get to connect with brands all over the U.S. and produce high-quality photos and videos for them to use for marketing purposes and help them stand out online. It has been a dream to be in this industry and connect with like-minded individuals as business owners.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not. It was tricky getting started with no prior photography experience. I offered my services for free in the first couple of months to build my portfolio, and soon landed my first paid client.

After getting the first client, naturally more clients reached out soon after. However, it was a learning curve in figuring out my processes, systems, contracts, taxes, photo and editing style, and keeping my business sustainable.

There have been slow and busy months, and it’s all about continuing to work on your craft, attracting the right clients, and believing in your abilities. Having constant imposter syndrome may be the biggest challenge to date for me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in taking photos for brands and business owners, this includes products, service providers, real estate, commercial, personal branding, food, and more.

I am mostly known for my expertise in product photography and working with brands in the retail industry. I am proud to have a very unique, authentic, clean, minimalist style and how my photos are created with thoughtfulness and detail.

My work is uniquely mine, and I am proud to trust in my creativity and attract others that also appreciate my work.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory has to be visiting our beach house as a family every summer in Capistrano. My absolute favorite place to be is the beach because of the calmness that you can’t help but wash over you.

It feels like problems kind of just wash away, and you are able to just be in the moment. My siblings and I always body surfed together, played in the waves at sunset, and skimboard along the sand.

We created a lot of “laugh until your stomach hurts” kinds of memories.
