Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Cook.
Hi Megan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my business at the age of 21 while working at my local gym! I had just graduated college and was looking for an opportunity to not only better my financial situation, but to take control of my own health. Growing up I was heavily involved in after-school activities and didn’t learn the skills necessary to make proper choices for my body, sparking an interest in learning how to do so! I invested in my own personal trainer and nutrition coach and loved every minute of challenging myself.
This newfound love unlocked the door to the health and fitness world. I went on to compete in the ANBF bikini competition and placed 3rd in my division! I was hooked. I then went on to study nutrition and obtained not only these credentials but personal training as well! I’m currently in the strength-building part of my journey; I love to lift heavy weights and push myself out of my comfort zone.
During all of this, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis and have used my platform to share this awful condition and understanding of food to manage my symptoms as much as possible. And that’s exactly what I do with my clients! I personally train online as well as a nutrition coach. My clients are given nutrition programs and a fitness plan best suited for their bodies and goals.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! Building a business from scratch knowing nothing has presented a learning curve and new studies are constantly coming out for fitness and nutrition. That being said, I wouldn’t trade this for anything else. As I previously mentioned, I love a good challenge!
I firmly believe that the best things happen outside of my comfort zone. Over the years I’ve sought mentorship from some of the best, networked, and met like-minded people whom I lean on for support and created a beautiful in-person and online community, as well as brought on a wonderful team of women to help assist me and my business needs.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in strength building for smaller individuals! While the majority of my clients in my early years were weight loss clients (whom I still work with!!), I’ve found that my passion lies in muscle building. I’ve gone through all 3 stages of nutrition; ie: a bulk, deficit, and maintenance phase so that I can truly empathize and guide my clients through the emotions and obstacles that surface.
I am most proud of my continued education and application! I feel 100% confident in my client cases and if I don’t have an answer, I belong to an alumni program where I can bring my questions and work with a team to figure them out. What sets me apart from others in this field is that I focus on lifestyle habits and NOT diets. Working with me I will teach you how to achieve your goals in a safe and effective way, while still indulging in the things and foods you love! Education is key! Diets are not!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see a shift in customer demand for cleaner and safer supplements! While the goal is to get all the nutrients you need from whole foods, it’s not 100% sustainable in today’s society and lifestyles.
The products we use to supplement those micronutrients are coming under scrutiny and I’m pleased to see it! Also, I’ve seen a shift in clients wanting to be strong and not the smallest version of themselves, moving away from the number on the scale. I’m very excited about the future of this industry.
