Conversations with Michael Marinos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Marinos.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Dad Bod started in 2018 when my brothers and I began making music together in our parents’ garage. The first few years were a lot of trial and error, releasing EPs and playing shows while figuring out who we were as a band. I’d say Pastels was our real debut, the first record that felt like we truly found our sound. It was also when our 4th and final member of Dad Bod Russ Allphin joined the band. Since then, we’ve continued to grow, tour, and make music we’re proud of.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like anything in life, there have been ups and downs. We’ve had challenges with people coming and going from the band, along with the normal changes and struggles that happen in life. But through it all, we’ve always come back to making music. No matter what happens, that’s something we’ll keep doing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are known for being “SLC legends” I guess. We did not bestow this title on ourselves but we are grateful and shall wear with honor.

We specialize in a little rock and a little roll.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Dad Bod doesn’t know how to swim :/
