Conversations with Michael Todd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Todd. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Michael Todd was born and raised on the Southeast border of Idaho and Utah, in the small county of Bear Lake, coming from a musical family background, Michael began his musical journey at a young age. After joining the United States Marine corps at age 26, life was put into perspective and Michael began pursuing music as more than just a pastime hobby. Fast forward 6 years later, after the finale of his contract with the Marine corps, Nashville was in his sights and within a few months was his new home.

Michael is a singer-songwriter, and has released several songs over the past couple of years on Spotify and Apple music. He continues to write music and work full-time with prospects to go to school in Nashville Tennessee. His music has an aspect of storytelling which is why he gravitated to country over so many other genres of music. Country music was at his core and the roots of his musical upbringing. He derives his musical inspiration from his colorful life experience to write, and his musical background singing harmonies with his family. He left singing with the Fox Brothers, a resident band at the local bar, The Westerner, but returns on occasion to sing and play when he is home visiting family and friends.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Moving away from the place you have called home for so many years is never easy for anyone. Just as growth is sometimes painful, uprooting your life, moving away from everyone you know to a city that you don’t can be terrifying. The musical industry here is completely different than what I’ve ever known. Every aspect of this move has been a learning and growing experience. From all of the guidance so far, there will continue to be growth no matter what stage is set.

Family is probably the hardest thing to leave behind. I love every one of my family members with all my heart, but they are all happy and I know they are taken care of, and choosing my own happiness to pursue my passion and live somewhere else, was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. One that was pondered and prayed about for almost a year, was wondering if it was the right decision. If there is anything that is to be learned from this life is, there’s a part of me that knows what’s best for me in every situation, even if I don’t agree at the moment, my heart wants something different,

I have a few friends that I have made over Instagram that live in Nashville, but it’s not easy making friends in a new city, but I underestimated how easy it is. Just within a couple of months, I’ve probably gained at least half a dozen new people in my life who play music and other things to help guide me on my journey and give me advice.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a musician, singer-songwriter, and entrepreneur. Everything that has to do with the music I have built, and proud to be self-made. My unique experience and writing style in music as well as my unique story, sets me apart from any artist as my life has been anything if not just unconventional. I hope to pave the way for artists in the future who want to tell their story through music, and maybe even create a new music subgenre.

What’s next?
With this move to Nashville, my sites are now set on releasing more original music and writing, Co-writing with new artists.

Possibly in the distant future releasing an album if not singles.

Aside from music, my aspirations at the moment are to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Liberty University.
