Conversations with Rene Hernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rene Hernandez

Hi Rene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Yes absolutely, well I guess I should start from my journey here to Utah. I’m originally from Houston, Texas, but in 2011, I made the moved to Utah. My career began in HVAC and maintenance, where I worked for several years. Eventually, I felt the need to challenge myself with something greater, which led me to real estate. Although the transition was intimidating at first, my curiosity for the journey kept me going. I’ve now been in real estate for a year and three months, and I’m proud to work with Real Broker LLC as part of The Perry Group, Utah’s top team.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I will say it hasn’t been a smooth road for me, For the first year I started as a solo agent, I struggled a lot because I felt like I didn’t have much of the support that I needed as a new agent. This was before I joined The Perry Group. I was with a different brokerage. I was working full time still doing HVAC and part time real estate. I didn’t feel like my business was where I wanted it to be. I felt I needed to focus 100% on real estate and go big or go home. As an extrovert I am good at talking to people and making conversation with a total stranger. I needed to work on my strengths and use that to my advantage. As a new agent there are a lot of out of pocket expenses no one talks about. I quickly experienced them first hand. Since I was from another state having a big sphere of influence was not something I had in my tool belt. I needed to create a sphere of influence and I started to create a big sphere of influence through a motorcycle riding community. Through that sphere of influence I gained a big following on social media. Now the second struggle was to use that sphere of influence to create business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an extrovert, I’m not afraid of rejection or putting myself out there, which has been a big part of my success in real estate. I specialize in helping home buyers and sellers navigate what can sometimes be an overwhelming process, and I do it with a personal touch. My goal is to make sure my clients feel confident and supported throughout their journey.

What makes me proud is the relationships I’ve built. Clients trust me not just to get the job done but to genuinely care about their needs and goals. What sets me apart is that I’m always willing to go the extra mile, working hard to ensure that everyone I work with feels like they’re in good hands. It’s more than just a job for me—it’s about making a difference in people’s lives.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Everyone says success is in the numbers, but for me, it’s about overcoming the obstacles that come with this industry. I believe true success comes from helping people achieve something life-changing. The real reward is seeing the joy on my clients’ faces when I help turn their dream of becoming homeowners into a reality. That’s where I find the most fulfillment.
