Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Lozano.
Hi Robyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from the Aveda cosmetology program in Los Angeles, I built my career creating dimensional, low-maintenance color that enhances each client’s natural beauty. After nine years behind the chair, I stepped away to focus on motherhood and my little one — a season that brought me so much perspective and gratitude. Today, I’m thrilled to be creating in Utah, pouring my passion into beautiful, healthy, and impactful color for my amazing new clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Not exactly. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, so being there wasn’t new to me, but the hair industry in LA is fiercely competitive. I put in a lot of hard work to build a solid clientele and was at the height of my career when COVID hit — going from a booming income to nearly shutting down overnight. The shutdowns and ever-changing requirements in California forced me to pivot, and I even took a salon position in Ohio for a short time just to stay afloat and figure out my next move.
Once restrictions lifted, I returned to California and business was booming again — until I became pregnant. I worked until 35 weeks, planning to take three months off, but postpartum life didn’t go as expected. I experienced severe postpartum anxiety, had a baby who refused a bottle, and honestly had no desire to leave my precious little one. That period, though challenging, allowed me to bond deeply with my daughter and partner, and gave me the perspective I needed to reassess what mattered most.
Ultimately, we decided to move to Utah — close to family, with a slower pace, beautiful outdoors, and a strong job market for my husband. It was a no-brainer, and we haven’t looked back. I planted my roots, focused on motherhood, and slowly began dipping my toes back into the industry by visiting local salons. That’s when I discovered Park HAUS — and I knew immediately this was the space I wanted to create in again. It just felt right. It felt like the perfect time to return to what I love: making people feel beautiful and confident through hair.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating dimensional, low-maintenance color that enhances each client’s natural beauty while keeping their hair healthy and vibrant. I’m known for my thoughtful placement, seamless blending, and ability to transform hair in a way that feels effortless yet impactful. Every client’s hair tells a story, and I love helping them express themselves through color that grows out beautifully and fits their lifestyle.
What sets me apart is my intentional approach and the high-quality products I use. I work exclusively with Davines, a professional, plant-based, sustainable line that prioritizes hair health while delivering stunning, long-lasting results. Using Davines allows me to create vibrant, multidimensional color without compromising the integrity of the hair, which my clients truly appreciate.
I’m also deeply committed to sustainability within the salon. As a proud member of Green Circle Salons, I partner with a Certified B Corporation and Zero-Waste-to-Landfill-certified organization to recycle and repurpose 95% of our salon waste, including foils, hair, excess color, lightener, color tubes, aerosol cans, batteries, grocery bags, and even old tools. This partnership allows me to offer a luxury salon experience while making a positive impact on our planet.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built — helping clients feel confident and cared for every time they sit in my chair. For me, this career is about more than just hair; it’s about creating a personalized, luxurious experience that leaves each person feeling seen, radiant, and confident.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have so many people who have played a big role in my journey. My clients have been some of the most important supporters — trusting me with their hair, giving me creative freedom, and sharing their feedback, which has helped me grow as an artist.
Mentors and educators, especially during my time at the Aveda cosmetology program in Los Angeles, provided the foundation and technical skills I still rely on today. Beyond that, my peers and colleagues in the industry have been invaluable — offering guidance, encouragement, and inspiration as I built my career.
Of course, my family and partner have been my biggest cheerleaders. Their support, especially during my transition into motherhood and the move to Utah, allowed me to prioritize both my family and my passion for hair. Without their encouragement, flexibility, and belief in me, none of this would have been possible.
Ultimately, it takes a village, and I feel grateful every day for the mentors, clients, and loved ones who have helped me grow, navigate challenges, and continue building the career I love.
