Today we’d like to introduce you to The Blnx
Hi The, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
First of all, we have all known each other since elementary. D. VIDA and Jens The Chef met in 3rd grade, and Keviin Coasta and D. VIDA are brothers. Chef started in the basement of his friend’s house, rap battling over instrumentals after school when he was in 9th grade. For VIDA and Coasta, music was always in the family. Music videos would play on the TV, along with live music and concerts in their Brazilian household. Their dad is also a musician, and played regularly in Brazil.
VIDA and Chef started making music together in 2020, which caught the eye of Coasta. This inspired him to work on music of his own. Coasta built a home-studio after hearing VIDA’s first song, “Limelight”. In the beginning of 2022, Coasta came to Chef’s studio for the first time. The BLNX, not yet being a group, made their first song together that night. After numerous studio sesh’s with all of us, we thought it would be a good idea to create a group. And within the end of the year, we had our first concert in the Chef’s basement. From the response and the music being created, we knew that we had something special. We grew a following through backyard concerts, which then transitioned into opening in bars. VIDA saw a post and learned about the Qoncert App which is an app for independent artists to book their own shows. That post was about Qoncert App’s first show in Utah, and they needed openers. We took the opportunity and sold shy of a hundred tickets. That gave us the momentum to headline our own show months later in January of 2023. We have been doing shows steadily about every month since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In all honesty, it’s been pretty smooth. From the Qoncert App and R&R Ent. making it easy to book shows, and the tremendous support from our fans, it has been nothing but excitement and eye opening for the future. Our relationships with each other were established before the music, so there’s never been an issue group wise. Most of our struggles are like any other artists, such as trying to make good music that matches what we want to portray as an artist. Still digestible for the masses. We struggle a lot with promotion, as we would rather stick to the music making. But we are pushing ourselves to improve on our marketing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
To break it down:
Jens the Chef produces, raps/writes, and does the engineering.
Coasta does the business and raps/writes.
VIDA does the merch and raps/writes.
Not only do we do music, but we also want to expand into the world of streetwear through our merch.
We are most proud of the quality of music we are putting out, and the realness we have with each other.
What sets us apart is that our shows entertain a crowd. They compliment that we rap with no backing vocals and perform the songs live to put on a great show. Good crowd control.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality of our music is always our main focus and what we believe will lead to success. The next thing that we believe has been a huge boost to our momentum is our shows.
