Today we’d like to introduce you to Town Of Trees.
Town of Trees , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all began in 2017 when we formed a small, 3-piece folk band. We were just a few musicians, drawn together by a love for storytelling and melody. Then, in 2018, everything shifted. Tori Hensley joined us as our lead vocalist, and her voice brought a new dimension to our sound.
In 2019, Tori and our drummer, Connor Hensley, tied the knot. Their shared love of music and the early 2000s rock scene inspired us to take our sound in a new direction, blending nostalgia with something fresh.
In 2022, our lineup expanded again when Chris Cox joined on guitar. He and Connor go back from their days in the Army Band, and Chris’s skill and history with Connor added something special to the group. And finally, in 2024, we welcomed Mike Morse on bass, whose infectious bass lines added even more depth to what we were creating.
Our debut album, Something Pink, came out in 2023, and it’s more than just music for us—it’s a tribute to the sounds and stories that shaped us. It is the first time where our band has found a consistent, unique sound; so we have been excited to build off of that. Additionally, our newest single “Here We Go” showcases our newer, edgier sound with our first official music video that we created, shot, and edited ourselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road for us, but I think the bumps along the way have really shaped who we are as a band. When we first started as a folk trio, we were still trying to find our sound and figure out how to stand out. Shifting to a more rock-inspired style took time and came with its own set of challenges, especially when it came to writing music that felt true to our evolving identity.
Another struggle was balancing personal lives with the demands of the band. Tori and Connor getting married brought a whole new dynamic into the mix—both beautiful and complicated at times. It can be tough to separate band life from home life, but it has made our music even more honest.
We also had lineup changes along the way, and while they eventually led us to where we are now, there were moments of uncertainty. Adding new members like Chris and Mike meant adjusting to new energy and figuring out how to gel musically, but in the end, it made us stronger.
All these challenges have made the successes even sweeter. We have gone from busking on the streets, to playing at bigger venues infront of hundreds of people. Our live show and recording ability has also significantly improved. Every struggle has brought us closer as a band and helped us refine our sound into something we’re really proud of.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Each member of our band leads a pretty versatile and busy life, and we think that’s a huge part of what makes us authentic and relatable. All of the guys in the band—Connor, Chris, and Mike—have served or are still serving in the Idaho National Guard with the 25th Army Band. That military background adds a layer of discipline, teamwork, and experience that shapes how we approach both music and life.
Tori, our lead vocalist, brings something unique to the mix. She was a collegiate athlete, and now she owns a softball facility. She also is coaching at her alma mater Northwest Nazarene University, helping the next generation of softball players develop their skills. That kind of drive and passion shows up in her voice and how she leads the band.
Connor, aside from drumming for the band, is also a firefighter for Boise Fire Department. Additionally, he is apart of the Boise Pipes and Drums group within BFD. Balancing his demanding career with being a musician is no small feat, but it gives him a unique perspective on life, one that really comes through in his playing.
Chris, our guitarist, manages federal contracts and he’s also a family man with three kids. He recently retired after serving 20 years in the Idaho National Guard. His life is full, and that ability to juggle responsibilities while still creating music brings a grounded and heartfelt energy to everything we do.
Mike, on bass, is an automotive and sprinkler mechanic. He is a hardworking, blue-collar guy, and that down-to-earth grit comes through in his playing. He also balances this while still serving in the Idaho National Guard as well.
What sets us apart as a band is that we’re all living these robust, real lives outside of the music. We know what it means to hustle, to balance work, family, and passion, and that honesty flows into our songs. We’re not just performing—we’re connecting with people who are navigating the same struggles and joys. When we sing about love, loss, hard work, or celebration, it’s all coming from personal experience, and we think that’s what really resonates with our fans.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
For us, it’s all about building a community of like-minded people who connect with our music and what we stand for. Whether you’re a fan, a fellow musician, a venue, or a business, we’re all about collaboration and growing together.
We’re always eager to get to know other bands who share our passion for authentic, meaningful music. Touring with or supporting bands that resonate with our sound and values is a huge part of how we want to grow. We believe that by learning from each other and sharing experiences, we can keep building something that reflects the heart of the music scene and beyond.
For venues and businesses, we see you as a key part of this community. Hosting shows or partnering with local businesses creates spaces where people can come together and experience live music in unique, meaningful ways. We’re always looking for opportunities to play and connect in places that align with our vision.
And to our fans, the TOTS—you’re the foundation of everything we do. Sharing our music, showing up at our shows, and being part of this journey with us is how we all grow together. Your energy helps us create something bigger than just the music—it’s a space where people feel connected and inspired.
Ultimately, we’re trying to grow and learn, both as musicians and as people, and we’d love for you to be part of that journey. Here is our contact information to connect with us:
