Conversations with UpBeat Barre

Today we’d like to introduce you to UpBeat Barre.

Hi UpBeat, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
The four of us knew each other through the fitness community and connected via a Marco Polo group where we shared choreography for our barre classes in an effort to ease the time burden the creation process was placed on us. We quickly realized what we were doing was something that wasn’t available anywhere.

We came together in an effort to help other fitness instructors create incredible classes without sacrificing the hours of preparation time. What started as an idea to have a YouTube channel snowballed into a whole women’s empowerment brand that focuses on building community and providing fitness professionals with the tools they need to deliver incredible group, fitness classes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From our conception, there has been growth, adaptation, and many 180 directional pivots. We launched an instructor-tailored business the day the United States shut down for Covid-19 and had to completely redirect our business to include the participant.

With every challenge, our individual talents, capabilities, and work ethic (cue a bajillion sleepless nights) have filled a specific need within the business – it has been incredible to not only watch each other grow and take on challenges and changes in stride but to see how our community (and supportive families) have accepted and grown with us.

People often ask what it’s like to be in a business with four independent, capable and opinionated women. In short, we’ve had a lot of learning along the way but we’ve become so connected and in sync with one another that we show up to the party, filming, or even classes in the same outfit – all the time (we are not above twinning at our age).

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Between the four of us we have 14.5 kids, and specializations that range from English teacher to nutritionist and computer geek. We could fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool with the amount of diet Dr. Pepper we consume (#sponsor-us). We love having a good time – which is what our brand is all about – bringing the excitement back to barre – lighthearted, fun, and upbeat.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
We love a good business podcast like Chalene Johnson, reading up on our fascia facts and constantly continuing our education to bring further knowledge to the business, but we aren’t against a good bachelorette episode or kicking back with some piano music while soaking our muscles in the bath.

We all love getting outdoors too – beach, mountains, or poolside with a diet Dr. Pepper and reading Magnolia magazine.
