Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Sierra
Hi Angel , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
in the beginning of 2022, i started realizing that I really did wanna try and pursue being a singer, cause I just turned 18 and graduated high school (March 2022).
I won’t lie. I didn’t seriously start trying and pursuing that dream, until I went to my first concert in August of that same year. . Which was an Imagine Dragons concert in Salt Lake City. I realize how cool it is to be able to play for that many people and have that many people relate to a song, or an album. And I really wanted to achieve that. So ever since then, I’ve just been trying to book shows and write music and do everything I can to better my career..
I started writing a few of my own songs, and eventually, in February 2023, a local venue in Idaho (The Heart) reached out asking if I’d like to open a show for them for a traveling artist. After I did that, I knew that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I started doing more shows at that venue, and writing more music through throughout that year, and then I even went to a recording studio in Salt Lake City, (Counterpoint Studios) worked with someone named David Dub Dee, we recorded my first song. (Is All Hope Lost) I then released that song in October 2023. I continue doing shows at the local venue (The Heart) and any other gig I could get. (At Bars/events)
I would say my top achievements since releasing my first song, would be getting into songhouse camp (May 2024), which is a camp for singers and songwriters in Nashville, Tennessee, where we just work for a week of writing songs and creating music together. at that comp my confidence in my music and myself grew, and I was able to form connections with other people who had similar dreams and goals of mine.. I still get to talk and work with some of the most amazing news I meant from that experience, which is amazing.
Another accomplishment of mine is being able to hit over 23,000 streams on my first single within a year.
in October 2024, I was able to sing with Alex Warren on stage at his sold out show in Salt Lake City (Soundwell).
I also just released my second single on November 1, called ‘I still love u’ which came out on the same day that I was able to open for Forest Blakk in Phoenix, Arizona.
I have so many things planned for the next year to come, and I won’t stop working towards towards my dream of making this my full-time career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s definitely been a lot of obstacles. I think the two biggest would be coming from a smaller town, and the financial aspect of achieving the goal.
Music classes, paying my producers, traveling everywhere (because I’m from a small town) etc. all of those expenses add up.
Finding the time to do all of this, it can be stressful, cause I have to make sure that I am working enough to be able to afford to live, and to afford to achieve this goal, and not taking too much time off of work that I get fired lol.
being from a small town, there’s not very many people to connect with that do music. I have found a few people with similar interest in goals as me , and we connected and we’ve helped each other.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
That’s the current moment. I am working for a drink company. We strive to make sure that the customers who are buying our product have all the options are looking for.
I’m lucky enough to have a job that is so lenient with me working towards my goal of being a full-time artist.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned to never take things for granted.
