Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Eliason.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always been intrigued by photography but never did too much about it due to expenses, lack of confidence, and skill. Eventually, I got tired of not knowing what I wanted to do with my life/not having any true passions that could lead to a career. I got started in August of 2022 and full sent it, started an Instagram account, invested in gear (with the help of family, I’m so grateful for them), and started offering sessions to my closest friends. Since then, I have been getting clients pretty consistently– I still have a LOT of goals that I want to reach, but I have come so far! I am excited to see what 2023 brings as I continue to grow as a photographer.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been easy. When you choose something that heavily involves posting on social media or having some kind of internet appearance it can take a toll on you. I still find myself comparing my work to others and seeing how many clients others book compared to me. There have been times where I don’t have anything to post because I simply haven’t had any clients. However, my sweet husband always reminds me to stay consistent and it will come!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love taking photos of couples. I have found that to be my sweet spot, I have always valued human connection in life and see it as one of the most beautiful things we can have. I crave capturing the real, the raw, and the intimate in my photos. I am proud of my progress in doing so.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I haven’t personally found a mentor, but I do know a lot of photographers offer it. Someone I admire is India Earl. She is absolutely amazing! Her photography is what inspires me, honestly. She offers a lot of educational opportunities, some of which I have taken advantage of. Another thing that has helped my client flow is networking, the majority of my clients I have gotten are because I have worked with one of their friends.
