Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Jenkins.
Hi Brittany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began an In-Home preschool 8 years ago and have been teaching in my home ever since! I have found my passion – and I absolutely love what I do!
My classes are full of such fun, sweet kids, and they make my days so much fun. We dance, and learn, and play, and create, and so much more. I am a huge advocate for learn-by-play activities, and really believe that it’s the most effective way for kids to learn. Lessons that are creative and fun-based make it so much easier for the kids to retain what they have learned.
I wrote my own curriculum. So, it has my own personal twist on teaching the fun and creative lessons that I teach each week!
I have now started to expand into Preschool Learning Activity Boxes! These activity boxes are full of so many fun things to inspire creative learning and to keep kids engaged in playing and learning for hours!
In an effort to help parents with time-saving, and screen-free play for their kids – Each box includes between four and eight activities that are pre-packaged with all the supplies needed for the activity. There is also a wooden craft kit, a book, and curriculum activities in each box as well!
I am so excited about where this new venture will lead and am so grateful for the success it has had so far. I love to spread my mission of Learn-By-Play activities and hope that it continues to grow!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a long road. Finding success in my home-based preschool took a couple of years. Once I moved to Stansbury Park, it really took off and I have been thrilled with how each year has been and continued to grow!
The newest part of my business with the boxes has been successful but also slow-growing. I am hopeful that spreading the word about my boxes will help them grow in popularity and bring more orders and more success!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
First and foremost, my greatest job is that of being a mom! I have three beautiful girls, ages 11, 8, & 5. They are my whole world and the reason why I created my preschool in the first place!
I am a naturally creative person, and I love kids so very much. Joining the two to create a career for myself has been an absolute dream come true!
I have been able to grow my preschool from having just 8 kids twice a week to now having upwards of 24-36 kids three times a week.
It has been incredible to watch it grow, and I like to think it has been so successful because of my love for the kids and love for teaching. I truly count each of the kids as my own and want to see them succeed and learn and grow!
Including this current year’s students, I have now taught over 100 children!!! My first class of students is now entering junior high!
I am loving being able to put that creativity into a box and share it even more with those who I don’t have the opportunity to teach in my home. I have shipped boxes to California, New York, Ohio, Arizona & more!!!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Keep with it! It may take some time to find success, and there are always good days and hard days – but don’t give up! If it is truly your passion – keep believing in yourself! It will grow and change over time, and it is what you make it!
