Daily Inspiration: Meet Chelsea Luckett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Luckett.

Chelsea Luckett

Hi Chelsea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started in the beauty industry after I started esthetics school. I wanted to be a waxer and loved all things beauty. I got into makeup specifically after I had been severely burned by a laser in school. I needed to figure out how to cover it and cover it well!

So that’s where it turned into a passion. Once I started learning how skin and makeup worked, I loved learning about it and teaching others as well! So, I started at Ulta as a seasonal cashier just to get in the door. Now 10 years later, I freelance and am The only Professional makeup artist at Ulta in the state of Utah!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like anything you do can come with struggles.

Utah has a lot of amazing talent as far as makeup and beauty goes. So really trying to stand out from others is what I try to do. Growing a business is hard in general so you just really have to be LOUD about you and your work. It takes time but it is worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have primarily done bridal. But I have leaned into editorial a lot more lately. I pride myself on being a hub of knowledge and strive to be a diverse artist.

Not only by the work that I do but the clients that I can service! I welcome any and every one no matter your age, race, gender, etc. Everyone is welcome to take a seat at my beauty table.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
I think the best advice that I can give, don’t give up. Even when you want to. Keep pushing and showcasing who and what you are about. And carry business cards.
