Daily Inspiration: Meet Claudia Reyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Reyes.

Hi Claudia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Claudia, Owner & Principal Photographer of Divine Worth Photography. Born in Peru. Raised in Orem, UT. I’ve always been a creative person since I was young, long before I stumbled upon photography.

Photography came into my life when my parents gifted me a cheap digital camera, and discovered another medium to express myself. Forward to ten years later, I am the go-to photographer for family and friends. My goal is to show the beauty within in every shot. Capturing emotions is one of the most important parts of my work.

I have worked extra shifts here and there to pay off my equipment. Photography gear is very expensive. Especially, maintenance and other sources like websites, contracts, and so forth. I really love fashion and hope to work for Banana Republic one day.

I’m based in Utah but travel for sessions around the country.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. It’s been more like riding a rollercoaster. There have been many loops along the way! but I am grateful because it helped me to gain experience and grow more as a person. Like I mentioned earlier. I had to work extra shifts to provide for my photography gear. it’s really expensive.

Also, another thing I noticed is that there are many creatives out there and it can be challenging when you’re not trying to compare to others. it gets really tough because in Utah there is a lot of competition when it comes to photography. However, we all have many dreams to succeed! I love the challenge but also humble myself because I know all of this is a learning experience.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a self-taught photographer!

I hope to expand my services by building my own studio at home. I am very proud of my old work because I can look back and motivate myself to keep going and follow my dreams as a photographer.

My old work really inspires me to re-create them and see how much I progressed throughout the years.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I will say that I did stop photography several times due to school. I was focusing on finishing high school, especially since it was an advanced education and I needed to complete credits with an average grade in order to graduate and continue my education. I graduated with my Bachelors of Social work.

Completely different than photography, right? But I love both and I love trying out different things all the time. It’s the beauty of learning daily. If I were to keep going with photography and not have stopped, I know I would have been pretty well known and possibly taken photography classes as well.
