Today we’d like to introduce you to Ingrid Linton.
Hi Ingrid, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born & raised in Washington, DC. World traveler. Two college degrees. Mother.
About 20 years ago, the sudden loss of my only sibling led me to “drop out” of NYC & move to the woods near Lake Tahoe, CA.
For ‘therapy’ I started designing jewelry. To meet the demand Big Heart jewelry was created. Making/designing jewelry gave me a whole new life.
About ten years ago, as I drove my 8-year-old son home from school, we were hit head-on by an uninsured drunk driver@ at 85 miles per hour. I was life-flighted to Sacramento, where I was in.
Coma for about a month. My son Rex, was in the back seat. He only suffered trauma/PTSD. Over the next two years, I relearned how to walk, drive, and talk. While in recovery, I started designing w/ textiles instead of making jewelry.
Big Heart is a small production company. An outfit of wonderful women sews the finished product in Utah. Where Big Heart & I now reside permanently. Just outside of Zion Natl Park.
American-made design. Thoughtful design. Colorful “Everyday” products.
Thank you for taking an interest in my work & company.
BIG HEART, Ingrid.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Giggles, just read my bio. Small business management is hard but the consistent effort is imperative. One must learn
Computer skills. Production. Design. Raw-materials. Trends. Marketing.
It is the most rewarding feeling when Big Heart sells ANYTHING. A big heart runs on gratitude.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are honored by every sale made. People spending their hard-earned money on something we have designed & produced is a profound compliment.
Big Heart is “made in America.” Small production, high-quality everyday products. We are a modern small business with an appreciation for every sale.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Investing money in a new business is a HUGE risk.
Product quality is a risk. We know our sewing team. Handmade American aprons, tote bags, pillows, etc
After surviving a critical car crash, “risk” looks a lot different to me.
