Daily Inspiration: Meet Kamilla Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamilla Edwards.

Hi Kamilla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first started out creating content on social media as a joke between me and my friends.

Back in 2019/2020 TikTok was growing quickly, and Covid 19 was spreading slowly. Like everyone else who was stuck at home, my friends and I also jumped onto the app. I had one friend in particular who joked that they knew the secret to going viral on TikTok and bet that they could go viral more often than the rest of us. Each of us started posting videos on our pages, but I took the competition a little too seriously. I learned a few tricks, posted 3 videos a day, and stuck to my niche. All I wanted to do was win a friendly bet, but, before I knew it, I was growing on my socials.

I’ve been creating content since then and I hope to keep doing so in the future! My posting schedule has slowed as I have decided to spend more of my time with my kids, but I do what I can to have fun and enjoy social media as a creative outlet.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started creating content, I made a lot of mistakes. I missed out on opportunities because I hesitated or didn’t know enough yet. It was frustrating, especially when I saw others moving faster or doing things I hadn’t even thought of.

I’ve also struggled with comparing myself to other creators—feeling like I don’t have the time, tools, or resources they do. It can be discouraging when it feels like you’re constantly trying to catch up.

But I’ve learned that growth takes time – even now Im still figuring out the balance between work, family, and social media. Those early mistakes taught me a lot, and even when it’s not perfect, I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
On social media I create funny, relatable content about Utah life, parenting, and the quirks of being a mom—especially in the world of Utah moms. From mom humor to trying new hairstyles and fashion finds, I try to make videos that others can relate to, laugh at, or use in their daily life.

Im just happy if I can make people laugh and feel a little less alone in the chaos of parenting and everyday life in Utah. I don’t try to make everything look perfect—I do what I can to be honest and have fun. If I can brighten someone’s day with a laugh or a relatable moment, that’s what it’s all about for me.

I am actually a graphic designer and always thought I’d be known for my art/branding – but no, people now know me as the basic Utah mom who drinks a lot of soda.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in my social media journey, especially when it came to timing. During Covid, when we were all stuck at home and turning to social media for connection and entertainment. So I started creating more content, and that’s really when people began to notice me. It was an incredibly tough time for everyone, but that shift gave me a chance to be seen.

I was also lucky to have friends who were figuring out the secrets of different social media algorithms and were generous enough to share what they learned. That support made a huge difference in helping me grow.

I also feel incredibly lucky to have had my husband by my side through all this. He is not into social media, but he realizes that it is a fun, creative outlet for me, and does what he can to help out. I’m thankful to have such an understanding partner who is there for me.
