Daily Inspiration: Meet Katherine Maestas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Maestas

Hi Katherine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
With 10 years of sales experience and a background in fitness, I’ve developed strong relationship-building, coaching, and problem-solving skills, which give me a unique edge in the multi-family industry. Over the past 4.5 years, I’ve managed 13 properties and am about to take on my 3rd lease-up. My sales expertise, combined with my fitness background and multi-family experience, allows me to effectively coach teams and drive property success.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Working in property management is never smooth, but I’ve learned that we can make it easier by controlling what we can and staying proactive. One of my tougher struggles has been learning the industry and adapting to the ever-changing nature of the multi-family space. However, this challenge has helped me develop strong problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of how to manage and optimize properties effectively.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a multi-family property manager, I specialize in property branding and building a strong social media presence to enhance tenant engagement and attract potential residents. I’m passionate about coaching and developing teams, helping individuals reach their full potential while ensuring we operate efficiently and effectively as a group.

I’m known for creating strong, unique property brands that resonate with the community, using social media to elevate the property’s visibility and reputation. I’m also known for my ability to foster team growth, providing the coaching and support necessary for each member to excel in their roles.

What I’m most proud of is the culture I’ve built within my teams—focusing on growth, motivation, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. This has directly contributed to the success of the properties I’ve managed, both in terms of occupancy rates and resident satisfaction.

What sets me apart is my combination of expertise in property branding, social media, and team development. I bring a holistic approach that not only drives business results but also creates a positive and empowering work environment.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve been fortunate to have some incredible mentors and supporters along the way. One of the most influential was my regional manager, Stephanie Tueller. She treated me as an equal and always fostered my growth. She wasn’t threatened by my progress and gave me the autonomy to handle things at my properties, lead ownership calls, and even go on visits. When I received a promotion, she gave me an incredibly personal and thoughtful gift as a reminder of her support. Although she was losing me as a manager, she still wanted to ensure I didn’t miss out on an important growth opportunity.

But, my biggest supporter and cheerleader will always be my husband. He recognized the leader in me before I even knew it was there. He constantly reminds me of my value and encourages me to embrace my strengths. He’s always my loudest supporter and runs beside me every step of the way. His unwavering belief in me has been instrumental in both my personal and professional growth.
