Daily Inspiration: Meet Kristina Hanson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Hanson.

Hi Kristina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Dr. Kristina Hanson — a pelvic floor physical therapist and the founder of Uplift Pelvic Health and Wellness, a female-owned, whole-body clinic dedicated to helping people feel empowered, confident, and whole again — in their bodies and in their lives.

I’ve been in the physical therapy world since 2006, but my journey into pelvic health didn’t start professionally — it started personally. After having my son, I found myself struggling postpartum. I was a physical therapist, yet I still felt lost, unsupported, and unsure what was “normal” anymore. I kept telling myself to just power through. But after my daughter was born, I finally sought pelvic floor therapy — and it changed everything.

That experience opened my eyes to just how broken the system was for postpartum care — and how underserved this area of health really is. I shifted my career into pelvic health and spent years in a large hospital system, trying to create change from the inside. But pelvic health was still considered fringe. The support wasn’t there. The growth opportunities weren’t there. And I knew deep down: my patients deserved more. I deserved more.

So, in 2022, I stepped away and started Uplift. At first, I just wanted to give people a better experience — personalized, full-body, solution-focused care that actually addressed what they were going through. What began as a solo venture quickly grew into a thriving practice with an amazing team of providers and support staff who all believe in our mission: to uncover the root cause of pain, dysfunction, or disconnection, and guide people back to feeling at home in their bodies.

Honestly, I never set out to be an entrepreneur. I didn’t dream of owning a business. I just couldn’t stay in a system that wasn’t serving the people I cared so deeply about. What drives me is impact — I want pelvic health to be common knowledge. I want people to know that pain during sex isn’t normal, that leaking isn’t just “part of aging,” and that you don’t have to live in silence or shame.

Starting Uplift has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things I’ve ever done. It’s pushed me to grow not just as a clinician, but as a leader and a human. And I’m just getting started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? Not even close — but absolutely worth it.

Starting a business has been one of the biggest personal development journeys of my life. It’s required me to confront so many limiting beliefs — about who I thought I was, what I thought I could handle, and how much I was willing to grow. Each phase of Uplift Pelvic Health and Wellness has been a mix of excitement and sheer terror. And I’ve learned: growth often looks like stepping into the unknown, again and again.

There have been so many challenges. Learning to speak publicly in a way that actually connects — instead of hiding behind clinical language — was huge. Negotiating a lease for my first space? I had no idea what I was doing, but I figured it out. Convincing other providers that pelvic health matters — and that it can transform their patients’ lives — took persistence. Hiring the right people, building systems, setting boundaries, wearing all the hats… that was a steep learning curve.

And then there’s the personal side — trying to be a present mom, a supportive wife, a good friend, and still find time to take care of myself in the process. That balance is real, and it’s ongoing. There have definitely been moments where I questioned everything, but I always come back to the “why.” I built Uplift because people deserve better care, and I refuse to let fear or burnout get in the way of that mission.

The road has been anything but smooth, but it’s been powerful. Every challenge has made me more clear, more courageous, and more committed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy who specializes in pelvic floor rehabilitation — but what I really do is help people reconnect with their bodies, reclaim their confidence, and heal in ways they never thought possible.

At Uplift Pelvic Health and Wellness, we take a full-body, solution-oriented approach that goes far beyond traditional physical therapy. We are evidence guided and also integrate techniques like craniosacral therapy, visceral mobilization, and nervous system regulation into our treatment along with exercise, and lifestyle adjustments. We don’t just chase symptoms — we dig deep to understand why they’re happening, and we empower our clients with the tools to move, live, and function with freedom again.

What sets us apart is how individualized and holistic our care is. Pelvic health is deeply personal, and healing often requires more than just exercise — it takes education, connection, and compassion. I’m proud to say we create a space where people feel safe, heard, and respected — many for the first time in their healthcare journey.

What I’m most proud of is the ripple effect. When someone heals their pelvic floor, they show up differently in their relationships, in motherhood, in intimacy, in life. That kind of transformation is powerful — and it’s why we do what we do.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Honestly, I believe everyone can benefit from pelvic floor physical therapy. So many people are silently dealing with bowel, bladder, or sexual function issues — things that are common, but not normal — and they don’t realize help even exists.

Pelvic floor therapy isn’t just for postpartum women. It’s for athletes. It’s for men. It’s for teens. It’s for anyone with back, hip, or SI joint pain that hasn’t fully resolved — because often, the missing piece is the pelvic floor.

This system is complex, and it’s central to how we move, feel, and function — yet it’s so overlooked in traditional healthcare. At Uplift, we’re changing that narrative. We believe everyone deserves care that is holistic, individualized, and rooted in respect. You deserve to be listened to, to be seen, and to be an active part of your healing journey.

Your body has wisdom. Sometimes, it just needs the right support to come back into balance.
