Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Watson.
Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My names Lauren Estelle Watson. I was born in 2004 to a French immigrant mother. I’ve always been super into science and the mechanical side of everyday things. When I got my driver’s license, I became curious of auto mechanics. Since no one in my family knows anything about cars, I resorted to learning through YouTube. In 2021 I got my 2004 Ford Mustang, which lead me to make lots of friends in the car community. In the fall of 2021 I started studying auto mechanics at Mountainland Technical College. My dream is to start my own performance shop. I am currently building an engine to put in my Mustang, and have been documenting it on TikTok where I have gotten lots of support. This spring I graduated from Springville High school. Along with working on cars, I also do martial arts, photography, and modeling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have faced lots of roadblocks along my journey. I had to learn about cars by myself without any help from my family. My father lives in Asia, so I never got to build a car with him which is how most people learn about cars from a young age. My parents never expected me to get into cars, so it’s taken them some getting used to. I have also faced lots of bullying both in-person and online for being a girl into cars. Lots of people have doubted me saying I don’t know anything because I am a girl. Along with hate, I have also had lots of support, especially on TikTok, where parents have said I’ve inspired their daughters.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I model, mostly with cars. This includes modeling for specific clients, rental companies, or at car shows. My style is classy and respectable, meaning I want to embrace my femininity while still maintaining my standards. Too many models especially in the car modeling scene have caused all car girls to be sexualized so I am trying to pave a new path. I also do car photography, at car shows and for personal clients. My editing style is very stylized and artistic. I also do TikTok, where I make short videos about cars, ranging from funny skits, to educational videos, to videos about my own engine build. I hope to open my own performance shop once in the future. I have a few proud accomplishments relating to my career, I have racked up 40 thousand followers on TikTok, I’ve had very influential people reach out to me, and I was awarded a scholarship at Mtech to help me further my education.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think risk-taking is the best way to make use of your life. Either you get out of your comfort zone and succeed in something you usually wouldn’t attempt doing, or things don’t work out as planned but you learn from your experience. Building an engine and putting it in my car is a very big risk, but I’ve been learning every step of the way.

Lauren has been an amazing young lady since she first opened her eyes (which were violet colored at birth). She is a strong minded person with clear goals and objectives. I couldn’t be more proud of her! And now she’s teaching me about cars!
I’m her father!
