Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexis Monroig.
Hi Lexis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Puerto Rican. I grew up on the island and I travel all over, I started doing drag back in 2009 at Halloween of that year and I haven’t stopped since then. I love the craft of the transformation of a female illusionist. I love a hyper-feminine look with and all the classic tricks. Someone told me ones if you are not wherein perfume and nail you are not doing drag. That is my take on it. I have competed in pageants and have won and lost some in my career, I love the adrenalin that gives you to be in one is a good way of discovering your drag persona. Where my name came from is my real name without the A Lexis I know originally. Lol. 😆 Monroig comes from a family of actors and artists in Puerto Rico that I admire so much. Drag is fun not easy you have to have the passion and balls to show the world, so it takes courage .so it has been a long journey to get where I am at to be happy with my persona. I love putting a production in my show and showing glamour and fashion with my looks. And helping the new generation of drag.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth path dealing with the internal hate of family and society is rough but not impossible. I have learned to silence the negative monsters, inside and let the diva shine her way out. I remember some of the struggles such as learning how to sew and do hair and makeup so I can create the illusion that is inside my head believe me when I say is not been easy but I am so happy with what has become of her.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Well, my favorite resource has been Instagram. I see something and I can whip something out so fast, I love that. And of course, is not a book but the tv show Will and Grace has helped me so much.
