Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Sarafa.
Hi Matt, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! I am a 24-year-old celebrity fashion designer, reality television personality, and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles. I got started in the fashion industry at age 7 after stumbling across a marathon of Project Runway. Fast forward to 10 years later and I found myself on the debut season of Project Runway Junior! I feel so incredibly lucky to have achieved so much in my career so far, from dressing celebrities like Tyra Banks and Big Sean to being the youngest designer to have shown at New York, Paris, and LA Fashion Weeks.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path to where I am now has been anything but smooth. My entire career thus far has been a series of trial and error, and I’ve definitely made mistakes along the way. However, I’ve learned so so much from those mistakes and they’ve shaped me into who I am today. Starting a business at 16 years old was so challenging yet so rewarding and I have to take a step back and pinch myself sometimes to remind myself how far I’ve come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a celebrity fashion designer and I have a tremendous love for everything design. My brand Matt Sarafa LLC has done everything from streetwear to couture to face masks and accessories, but we specialize in luxury faux fur coats. Our luxury faux furs were introduced during my first New York Fashion Week show in 2017 and they quickly became a staple. I wanted to bridge the gap between the blatantly fake $50 fast fashion faux furs and the ultra-expensive genuine furs that obviously have so many downsides. We source the highest quality textiles to create ultra plush quality faux fur coats that are loved by celebrities, influencers, and customers worldwide!
Any big plans?
I have so many exciting projects lined up for the near future that I can’t share quite yet. But definitely keep an eye out for some brand new launches and collaborations coming very soon!
