Daily Inspiration: Meet Moneray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moneray.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Moneray and I am the Founder and Owner. I am 34 years old, a Christ follower, I have a beautiful daughter named Brooklynn, a wonderful husband, Joey, and two adorable but opposite dogs named Mabel (Mini Dachshund, age 2) and Kona (Boxer, age 12)

I began my career in the beauty industry in 2018 when I started my own business Microblading Eyebrows. I soon fell in love with the beauty industry as a whole and in 2019, I graduated with my Level 1 Esthetics License. Since then, I have grown a following, clientele base, and continued services that include Waxing, Lash Lifts, Facials, and Tinting. Over the years, I experienced a few health hiccups that forced me to address my internal health and well-being, including understanding diet and how it relates to skin and other organs.

Mint Made was created when I began my journey of holistic wellness, searching for cleaner, simpler ways of taking care of my body, inside and out. During this journey, I dove deep into studying holistic, clean products, ingredients, and common toxins that unfortunately seem to make it into every aspect of our lives. In this process, I made the decision to start formulating my own skincare line, using quality ingredients that essentially feed the skin, rather than bombarding it with actives and chemicals that not only can strip and dry out the skin, but can also disrupt our hormones, our endocrine system, and irritate skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. This includes skincare products for your face, AND your body. Clean Beauty Brands are becoming more and more popular, and honestly so necessary when so many of our systems are designed to make us and keep us sick. I am grateful to see this rise in clean, non-toxic and sustainable beauty products in a market that is so saturated with chemicals and toxins.

Learning how to make Cold Processed Soap was one of the most fun and rewarding decisions during this process, and that’s where the Artisan Soaps were incorporated! The unique nature of soaps and the following it possesses prompted me to separate the two. Mint Holistic Esthetics for the skincare, and Mint Made Artisan Soaps for the handmade soap. Although every single product I formulate is made using only clean oils, pure essential oils for their scents and skin loving benefits, and every color is obtained using natural clays, botanicals, and extracts. I don’t use micas because they aren’t always natural and aren’t always regulated. For example, my cleansing oils are a bright orange due to the small amount of Sea Buckthorn Oil, a literal superfood for your skin that is extracted from the Sea Buckthorn Berry!

I also understand that it’s never healthy to obsess and overly stress over controlling EVERY aspect of what we are exposed to, becoming extreme in trying to control these things, although many people out there have found ways live that way and are quite successful, which is still so wonderful for them, truly! In this day and age, we have enough stressors bombarding us. Becoming an extremist in any subject or lifestyle isn’t always an option for everyone, and isn’t always healthy.

I believe in baby steps, giving yourself grace, and incorporating one thing at a time. And being nice, graceful, and tolerant towards those who are doing it different, or not as well. Tailoring the lifestyle changes to you and your personal goals, while also enjoying life and having healthy priorities is a good way to live! We all have a different story, experience, lifestyle, and list of personal goals.

Some of the biggest lifestyle choices that have proven to be the most beneficial for me are:

A solid sleep schedule. (I sleep with the sun for the most part)

Minimizing/eliminating sensitizing foods like store bought breads, dairy, seed oils, alcohol, and processed sugar (Youd be surprised how much these things contribute to skin ailments like acne and eczema!).

Incorporating more raw fruits and vegetables into daily eating habits.

Getting sunshine in the morning and the evening.

Simplifying my skincare routine!

My handmade soap and skincare products will create a simple, yet luxurious cleansing and shower experience, with invigorating smells, that will leave your skin glowing, clean, fresh, and healthy!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the big obstacles has been navigating my business enough to continue growth, while still nurturing my families love for travel, camping, and just overall adventure. This year has been very interesting and new with me realizing that this Is MY business and responsibility, and my desire to perfect it sometimes takes away from my family time, which is something I am working on constantly! My husband and I have ran a few businesses together, and the Dynamic and rapid growth of this business has been encouraging, but tough with creating necessary sacrifices to keep up with the growth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I handmake Luxurious Soaps using only Essential Oils for scent, Natural Clays and botanicals for color, and nourishing base oils and butters.
I make Clean, Non-Toxic skincare with zero preservatives, shelf stabilizers, dyes, fragrances or harsh chemicals.
I also make beard oils, lip butters, and bath products like Bath salts and sugar scrubs.
I sell products and accessories that correlate with my products, like soap dishes, sisal soap bags, muslin cotton wash cloths, and bamboo beard combs!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I have spent the past 4 + years doing cabinets and countertops with my husband and have become quite proficient in the industry! I can measure, bid, design, order, and install cabinets and countertops. Thanks to my background in Fitness, I’ve carried and installed many large jobs and heavy countertops! We are Dealers for SOLLiD Cabinetry, as well as custom cabinet lines, and I still take on a job or two here and there whenever they present themselves to me!
