Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Aguilar.
Hi Ron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a BYU graduate in communications. I interned in NYC for YM Magazine. Got my first job at KUTV as a graphic artist for on-air production. I wanted to become an art director so I quit and took a motion graphic specialist at WBRC Fox News in Birmingham, AL. Then I took a job as the news graphics manager for KTVK, an independently owned and operated news station in AZ.
After that, I was offered a job as the art director for the SF Giants, Oakland A’s, Golden State Warriors & San Jose Sharks in the Bay Area where I redesigned the on-air look for Comcast Sports Network (Formerly Fox Sports Network). I got married and took a job for a local news station in Sacramento (Fox40 News) and after that took a job as the media generalist for Bongo Post Ad Agency. I quit there and tried to start our business in Sacramento.
I failed and paid back the business loan and vowed I’d never do that again. We moved out to Eagle Mtn in 2017 and I worked for a few companies here and there serving as their main lead for marketing and graphic production. I quit those and started the business in 2018. We started off small and worked our way higher. I learned that I had a very good eye for real estate video production. We capitalized on that and took on more realtors and built relationships with brokers and HBAs.
We landed the Utah Valley Parade of Homes during the pandemic of 2020. It led to other Parades (Park City, St George) and countless relationships with custom home builders, architects, and designers. We are now creating a masterclass online course that will teach how to shoot luxury, commercial, and residential real estate properties professionally.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. We failed when we started in CA.
It bruised my ego and I didn’t like not knowing what the next month would look like if there were any leads at all. Money was always tight. I have 5 kids so I felt stretched thin. The stress was overwhelming. Overall, I didn’t believe in myself at first. My wife was my biggest cheerleader. She always knew the potential to be had.
Another challenge that I had was when I ruptured my left Achilles tendon in June of last year. We didn’t have disabilities and I couldn’t use my left leg at all. My job requires my walk so this was devastating. Instead, we used the opportunity to birth my REVideoPros Masterclass.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Utah Valley Videos we produce promotional, training, and property videos. We specialize in luxury estates and commercial properties. We are known for producing beautiful home tours that are engaging to watch and accurately represent the home, its builders, and its designers.
We are proud to be featured in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes, the Park City Showcase of Homes, and the St George Parade of Homes. We value the hard work of all the custom home builders we associate with and do our best to represent their work in the best light possible. We also take beautiful photos of the homes we feature.
Additionally, we work with such clients as Quick Quack Car Wash, Traco Packaging, Weave, The Choral Arts Society of Utah, The Days of ’47, etc, providing high-quality training videos or promotional video needs.
What sets us apart is our one-on-one relationship with our clients and our long history of professional broadcast and video production.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Currently, we have focused heavily on our masterclass, REVideoPros (Real Estate Video Professionals). We feel we have a formula for success when filming and producing luxury homes and custom builds. We want others to know of this exciting opportunity to learn what we have learned and apply it to their own business.
