Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Marthaller.
Hi Ryan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been drawn to creative storytelling, whether through acting, music, or photography. I started pursuing acting at a young age and worked my way into theater, film, and television, taking every opportunity I could to learn and grow. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to appear in projects including Dead 7, Brown, For the Night, and Seasons 1 and 2 of 1923.
My journey hasn’t always been easy. In 2021, I lost my dad, which became one of the most difficult periods of my life. That experience changed me and taught me a great deal about resilience, gratitude, and the importance of the people who support us. With the help of family, I found my way forward and became even more determined to pursue the things I love.
Today, I continue to work as an actor while also writing and recording music. Creativity has always been my way of connecting with people and telling meaningful stories. Whether I’m on set, on stage, or writing a song, my goal is the same: to create something honest that resonates with others. I’m grateful for every opportunity, and I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was losing my dad in 2021. It was the hardest year of my life and completely changed my perspective. For a while, I felt lost and struggled to find my way forward. Grieving someone so important to me affected every part of my life and forced me to learn how to keep going through one of the most difficult experiences I’ve ever faced.
Professionally, acting and music both come with their own challenges. Rejection is part of the process, and there are often long periods of uncertainty between opportunities. I’ve learned that success doesn’t happen overnight and that perseverance is just as important as talent.
Those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and gratitude. Looking back, the obstacles I’ve faced have shaped me into a stronger person and have given me a deeper appreciation for every opportunity that comes my way. Today, I try to use those experiences to inspire my work and remind myself to keep moving forward, no matter what challenges arise.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I’m most proud of right now is my album, Never Give Up, which was released on May 8. The project is deeply personal to me because it reflects many of the experiences, challenges, and lessons that have shaped my life. Every song tells a story, and the album’s message is about perseverance, resilience, and continuing to move forward even when life gets difficult.
Releasing Never Give Up was a major milestone because it represents years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth. There were times when it would have been easy to quit pursuing my creative goals, but I stayed committed to the process and saw it through.
More than the release itself, I’m proud of what the album stands for. The title reflects a mindset that has helped me navigate both personal and professional challenges. Being able to share that message through music and connect with listeners makes this one of the accomplishments I’m most proud of.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family, friends, and the people who believed in me throughout my journey. Their encouragement helped me stay focused on my goals, especially during difficult times when I questioned myself or faced setbacks.
I’m also grateful to the directors, producers, casting professionals, and fellow actors I’ve had the opportunity to work with throughout my career. Every project has taught me something new and helped me grow both professionally and personally. Learning from experienced people in the industry has played a major role in shaping me as an actor and storyteller.
Most importantly, I owe so much of the credit to my dad. He is my hero! And my dog Gracie is my best friend and I’m so incredibly blessed.
Also, Katy Perry & Miley Cyrus!
In February, I got the once in a lifetime opportunity to be invited to the taping of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special! It was truly the best day of my life!
