Daily Inspiration: Meet Sean Cortese

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Cortese.

Hi Sean, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Grew up in Provo, attended UVU, started working in finance, had some mental health & addiction struggles, went through therapy & learned how to best deal with my mental health.
I now work as an actor & musician & storyteller.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Many of my struggles were due to my anxiety & bi polar disorder that really affected me in my 20s. It wasn’t until my mid 30s that I felt like I finally have a hold of them.
The hardest struggles was taking the time learning to re wire the pathways in my brain, as well as the way I spoke to myself. It was a long road.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor. I specialize in showing audiences the best & sometimes the worst of humanity. But ultimately my job is to tell the truth. Whatever characters I play, they all have a truth, as do all of us in the real world. I find humanity fascinating. And in a world that seems to value humanity less and less by the hour, I like to hope that sets me apart in some way.
I think the thing I am most proud of is that I am at peace with myself. Because after all this time, at long last, liking myself is the ultimate gift.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Just by reaching out to me via social media or email. I am an extremely open person & love to collaborate with any like minded artists. As long as there is something that I feel I can bring to a project— then I’m all in 100%
