Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawna Blaney.
Hi Shawna , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
More than ten years ago, my life changed forever. I suffered three traumatic brain injuries in a short period of time, leaving me with severe neurological, physical, emotional, and autonomic challenges. In what felt like an instant, so much of the life I had known was gone.
Yet even in the darkest moments, God never abandoned me.
Through years of pain, uncertainty, and countless setbacks, He patiently taught me to trust Him when I could not see the way forward. He softened my heart, deepened my compassion, and showed me that hope is not found in circumstances but in Jesus Christ. He carried me through seasons when my own strength was gone and reminded me, again and again, that His grace is sufficient.
By God’s miracles, tender mercies, and the faithful prayers of family, friends, and even strangers, my health has improved in ways I once believed were impossible. Every step of healing has been a gift from His loving hand. While my journey has not been easy or complete, it has become a sacred witness that God is mindful of each of His children and works all things together for our good in His perfect time.
For years, I couldn’t use my right hand and arm. As I sought to regain strength and function, the Lord placed an unexpected blessing in my path: sewing little horses. With every stitch, He strengthened not only my hand but also my heart. What began as therapy became a source of peace, purpose, and joy. Watching these little ponies bring comfort, smiles, and hope to others has been one of the sweetest gifts of my healing journey.
What began as handmade gifts for family and friends soon became donations to Primary Children’s Hospital and Operation Underground Railroad. Today, Pegacorn Plush is a small business born from God’s redeeming grace—a reminder that He can take what has been broken and create something beautiful, meaningful, and filled with hope.
I know God lives. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior and Healer. I know He hears every prayer, gathers every tear, and answers according to His perfect wisdom, love, and timing. I know miracles have not ceased, because I have experienced them. Pegacorn Plush is more than a business—it is my testimony that God is a God of miracles, that He brings beauty from ashes, strength from weakness, and hope to every heart willing to trust Him.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to healing has been anything but easy. Just as we began to believe I was turning a corner, another unexpected trial came. I suffered a silent stroke that took away my ability to think in any language, understand spoken words, and speak. It was a heartbreaking season of loss.
By God’s grace, I have come so much farther than where I began though. Although I still process speech at about half the speed of most people and continue to struggle with reading, language, learning, and understanding new ideas, every bit of progress has been a miracle and a tender mercy.
During those long, quiet days—when I couldn’t work, couldn’t carry on conversations, and often could do little more than sit in silence—our little Etsy shop became a gift from the Lord. Sewing gave my hands something to do, my mind something gentle to focus on, and my heart a quiet reminder that even in brokenness, God could still create something beautiful. Each little pony became a symbol of hope, healing, and the truth that our Heavenly Father never wastes our pain. He can take even our deepest wounds and, in His perfect time, use them to bless the lives of others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in creating custom Pegasus unicorn and dragon plush stuffed animals and rideable stick horse heads.
Any big plans?
I have no idea.
For the past ten years, I haven’t been able to make plans for the future. My life has been lived one day at a time—and sometimes, one moment at a time. While that has been incredibly difficult, it has also been one of the Lord’s greatest gifts.
He has taught me that life is sacred, fragile, and beautifully uncertain. None of us knows what tomorrow will bring, and because of that, each day is a precious gift from God. I’ve learned to look for His hand in the ordinary moments, to cherish the people I love, and to find joy in the small miracles that so often go unnoticed.
When we stop waiting for “someday” and embrace the gift of today, we begin to see life through heaven’s perspective. Every sunrise is a new mercy. Every moment is an opportunity to love more deeply, serve more willingly, and draw closer to Jesus Christ. That lesson has changed not only how I live—it has changed who I am.
