Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Glasgow.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up building hotrods and drag racing with my dad. I worked with him at his shop in Casper, Wyoming until 2004, when I moved to Las Vegas. I got into custom fabrication and continued building custom hotrods, classic cars, and trucks. I built many cars that graced the covers of magazines throughout my years in Las Vegas. In 2010, we had a chance to move to St. George for a better area to raise our two children. I worked in a few shops in the area until I met my past partner and we opened JRW Rods and Customs in 2016.
We opened the doors and hit the ground running. We were building customs and maintaining many classics for the area. Over the last few years, we have been pushing to build high-end customs only. In January of 2022, I bought out my partner. We are still growing and still busy building some badass custom cars and trucks. My crew is some of the best around and their added talents it has made our transition to only building high-end cars much easier! Classics are awesome and when we can build them to drive and handle like a new car with all the creature comforts, it truly makes them amazing!
We still get to play cars every day as grown-ups!! Hopefully, everyone has the opportunity to see one of our builds cruising around town and can enjoy the history of the automobile and enjoy mobile art!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The automotive aftermarket world is always a roller coaster. These projects can be expensive, and they require a fair amount of time, so working with a patient client is necessary. The next big hurdle is finding employees with the right talents and attention to detail.
The rest is being able to think outside the box. We are stuffing new technology and parts into cars that were never designed to do so. There is nothing quite like experiencing the feeling you get seeing a completed car at a show and watching people’s reactions to the awe-inspired beauty.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We specialize in building and fabricating one-off classic cars and trucks from the ground up. We do everything in-house from custom fabrication to amazing paint jobs. We also C.A.D. design a lot of our parts. I think the only thing that sets shops like ours apart from each other is our style and being able to blend that with what our client is after throughout the build and seeing it into a finished product.
What makes me the proudest is the fact that we can take a car that has been sitting in a field for years and create an amazing piece of art that is a blast to drive. If you are looking to build your dream car or a car from high school that will put a smile on your face every time you sit in the seat, then check us out!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I liked to take things apart to see how they worked. I didn’t always get them put back together though. I was into BMX, skateboarding, and anything to do outside. Cars and drag racing are what I spent most of my time growing up.
It kept me busy and it was a lot of fun.
