Hi Monica and Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Dogs have always been an important part of our life. We have always wanted a workplace where we can take our dog and he will have as much fun throughout the day as we do. Having a place that’s clean, organized, and where he can run free – inside or outside – was as important as having fun with people and dogs to play with. An office environment is not where my dog can have a fun, interactive day. We decided to open our own Dog care and Boarding facility.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Getting the business up and running was not easy. Once COVID hit the Funding was hard to come by and getting the buildout finished was taking a lot longer than before COVID.
Banks were getting the PPP loans out as a priority and new businesses were put on the backburner. Also getting work done on the building was slower due to materials being scarce everywhere. This delayed our opening by more than 9 months. We finally opened in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most people were now working from home and not traveling which meant daycare was not a priority for owners either. We decided to focus on the fact that dogs needed socialization throughout the day and it was important for them to keep socialized and active during the day to help keep them happy and healthy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Backyard Dog Care & Boarding, Inc?
We are a dog daycare and boarding facility. We have tons of space both indoors and outdoors for dogs to run free. Those that are boarding with us have a nice spacious kennel that is their own during their stay. We provide cots, blankets, and pillows, or owners can bring their own, which helps them feel like they are at home.
Our staff is wonderful at interacting and playing with the dogs. They help even the shyest and anxious dog feel welcome and at ease. We have various areas of play for small to large dogs and are great at working with different temperaments also.
We will be adding bath and brush services this summer.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to us is that every dog feels welcome and safe here. We want them all to be excited to come to play with other dogs and our fun staff.
Our facility is clean and organized and the dogs get lots of attention from our staff.
