Exploring Life & Business with Bradley Anderson of Salt Lake Sports Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Anderson.

Bradley Anderson

Hi Bradley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My life has been incredible in my opinion. I was raised in Olympia, Washington by two great parents who were always supportive and taught by example. I had 2 brothers and 2 sisters who we all so different from elite athletes to singers/songwriters it was a very fun home to grow up in.

After a high school life filled with sports, friends, and family I was able to go on a two-year mission to Jacksonville, Florida. I moved to Salt Lake City after my mission to play football for the University of Utah and was able to be a part of the Fiesta Bowl Team. I was never great but it was a great experience to play. While playing football at the University, I got introduced to Rugby. My best friend and I met some of the current rugby players and were invited out to play. This was a defining moment in my life where the sport of rugby ended up shaping a lot of who I am. The players I was able to meet on the rugby team at the U are still to this day my best friends.

We have a tremendous group of ambitious, successful great men who have helped me become a better man more than 15 years later. During that time at the University, I met my wife who is here from Utah, we now have 3 awesome kids, 15-year-old Addy, 11-year-old Eliza, and 8-year-old Johnny. Following my time at the U we moved to St. Louis where I attended graduate school at Logan College of Chiropractic. There I received my Doctorate in Chiropractic as well as a Master’s in Sports Science and Rehabilitation in St. Louis.

Following our time in St. Louis we moved back to Utah to start my practice as a Chiropractic Physician called Salt Lake Sports Chiropractic. I started the office from scratch with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears with my wife Alicia who was with me every step of the way. We began in May of 2013 and within a few years were able to buy our own space and begin expanding. We now have a second chiropractor in the office, a full office staff, and the best massage therapists in the valley all working to help people feel better.

Our office has always taken the approach we are a patient-first office. We don’t sell patients packages or try to get them hooked into a plan that will cost them several hundred if not thousands of dollars. We treat the patients and work with them to set up what works best for them. We see some patients every week, we see others once a year, it all depends on what their needs are. Moving back to Utah gave me the opportunity to begin working with rugby again and within a few years of being back, I accepted the position as President and Head Coach of Olympus Rugby Club.

For the last ten years, we have grown to be one of the better rugby clubs in the state and well-known nationally. I have a great set of assistant coaches and a family who support me 100% with coaching and mentoring these great young men to compete and learn how to deal with the massive struggles that life brings them. Family is everything to me and my family expands not only to my immediate wife and kids but to all those I can work with, coach, and help in any way.

I love watching my two daughters play soccer and basketball and seeing them compete in life. I also am now coaching my son’s tackle football with Olympus and remembering all the joy that football brought to my life. Overall, I have been blessed to be a husband, father, brother, son, friend, coach, and mentor to those around me, and am grateful for the life I have.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges with starting a business and running volunteer clubs. I had a very difficult time finding start-up capital like many small businesses.

We lived with my in-laws to try and save money, cut coupons, and hustled just to let people know we existed. My wife and I used to go door to door to businesses introducing ourselves to the neighborhood and just trying to let people know who we were.

There were several times in the first year of running Salt Lake Sports Chiropractic that I didn’t know what we were going to do to pay bills the next month. Luckily, we had such great patients that those struggles seemed short-lived and we always were able to make it through. Covid was a difficult time, luckily we were well established and survived and then even began to flourish during Covid.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I began Salt Lake Sports Chiropractic in May of 2013. We specialize in working with individuals through times of pain as well as working on improving their overall function. We deal with high-level athletes’ auto accidents to ordinary individuals who deal with pain daily. We pride ourselves in making our office a place people feel comfortable coming into. I have staff who have been with me for nearly 10 years and are the best at what they do.

Our other chiropractor, Dr. Sherri Ingle as well as our massage therapy staff is amazing and so in tune with helping people to heal. We are known for some of the techniques we use that are not your “typical” chiropractic office. We spend time getting to know the patient and work with them on their individual needs. We use some lower force techniques that have evidence-based research that shows they improve back pain, neck pain, sciatic pain, headaches, and more. We focus on soft tissue work through massage therapy, cupping, laser therapy, Graston, and teaching active care strategies that work in the patient’s life.

We are looking to spend more time with patients and get an overall feel for their needs rather than just an assembly line and trying to get them out as fast as possible. Utah is known for chiropractors who sell package-based care. They want you to pay $2,000-$4,000 upfront before they have proven their techniques will work for your condition. We do not do this! We do individual patient workups and create what will work best for their needs. If that is every week we see them every week, if it is once a year we see them once a year, it all depends on the patient.

I am most proud of the way people talk about my staff. Over the years, we have built what is in my opinion the best individuals in Utah at their professions. I am proud of the people they are and the way they continuously care about every patient we see. Most people don’t get to see the back office of medical practices, I can tell you my staff is always trying to make a better patient experience and has a genuine concern for all the patients that come in.

I want readers to know we are a safe place to come and see if chiropractic care works for them. You won’t feel pressure to come back every day or pay for services you don’t need. Come in and see firsthand how great the individuals are who work at Salt Lake Sports Chiropractic.

Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Seek out those who you want to be like.

If you see someone who presents themselves and is successful in what they do similar to what you want, go talk to them. I have been so blessed in life to have mentors of every kind from my father, coaches, and friends to guide me in the direction I want my life to go.
