Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianne Wheelwright.
Brianne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was a stay-at-home mom to six boys for 18 years while my husband pursued his career. But as my kids got older, I decided I wanted to have something for myself. A few years ago, I had breast cancer which has taught me to take any opportunities that come and not to let life pass you by. I worked as a wedding coordinator when I was younger and loved it.
When I started looking into what I wanted to do, I considered that again or even opening an event center. My niece worked for another bridal shop and my sister mentioned that our area could use another one and we should open one up. I thought about it and after a couple of weeks, I approached her and asked if she was serious about us doing this.
She said no! But she was right and I saw the need in our community and wanted to go for it. So I started researching and looking into it. Once I found the perfect location, we went for it and had our grand opening just last month. And what could be better for a mom of six boys than to own a bridal shop?
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has mostly been smooth, we put everything together quite quickly.
My brain likes to freeze when I have to deal with the business side of things but luckily, I have a great team of people who have been able to help me figure it out!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own a bridal shop where we sell dresses and veils. We are trying to bring a new aesthetic to our community and give brides the experience they are looking for when finding their dream dress. We offer sparkling cider, bottled water to all of our appointments, and cake on Saturdays.
We are located on Historic Center Street in Downtown Logan where there are many events that we take part in which bring lots of people to our area. We carry several designers and we are so happy to have them! They have been so good to work with and their dresses are stunning.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Confidence. If brides see that we are confident in what we do and how we dress them, it will help them feel better about themselves and that they can trust us.
