Exploring Life & Business with Chris Holt of KEEP MOVING 4 FUN LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Holt

Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am an architect that left my profession in 2008 to open the second CrossFit Affiliate in Miami. I co-owned and operated that affiliate for 10 years until selling my portion of the business to my business partner. Working with people on fitness mad me hyper focus on everyone’s foundation which was and is nutrition. And from 2008 to today, I’ve been working with people on nutrition by offering 24/7 accountability and emotional support. And I primarily work with women/mothers between the ages of 40-60 years old.

I have struggled with mental illness (depression, anxiety, and PTSD) for most of my life. I’ve gone through 4 lung surgeries, a near death car accident, and just had open heart surgery a little over a year ago. So my purpose on this earth is to pay it forward. To help people that are struggling with the same demons and obstacles I struggle with every day. I am not unique. I am not special. So if I’ve been able to co-exist with my mental illness without the need for pharmaceutical interventions, than I know I can help others do the same.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life doesn’t have smooth roads. I’ve failed more than I’ve succeeded. I struggle every day with my mental illness and having lived in a hospital over a majority of my young adult life, it’s made me realize how fleeting life is. Things can change in the blink of an eye.

Also being an identical triplet Korean adoptee, I have some deep seeded trauma that comes with being a transracial adoptee.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
This is the just name of my LLC. My DBA is Beyond The Tats. Which is also the handle for my social media accounts. I am more than just what you see. And most people just see muscles and tattoos. Never judge a book by its cover. My program specializes in helping people reshape their relationship with food. To develop new habits that are sustainable so they can live the rest of their lives in the body they want. It’s all about changing one’s psychology around food. This is one of the only ways to create long lasting change.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Big risk, big reward. I truly believe this saying. I left my profession as an architect to open a CrossFit gym during the 2008 housing crash. The economy had shut down. That was a massive risk. I sold my business to start another business alone, online right before COVID. Another big risk. Risk is vital towards growth. If you fly low to the ground, you’ll miss out on so many opportunities. If you soar high, yes the fall is great if it doesn’t work out, but the opportunities are massive. I always say, “Lean into fear. That’s when you know you’re on the right track,”
