Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Blanks.
Hi Crystal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Crystal Blanks, and I am a dedicated wellness practitioner based in Moab, UT. I am a certified 500 RYT, 200-Hour Certified Mindfulness Instructor, Reiki Master, Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor, Y12SR (Yoga of 12-Step Recovery) Certified Instructor, and Aerial Yoga Teacher. Beyond my certifications, I also create wellness products, including handmade malas, essential oil rollers, and more.
My yoga journey began in 1999, and I became certified to teach in 2019. Today, I offer wellness classes at various facilities throughout the Moab community and provide personalized one-on-one sessions in my private office, specializing in yoga, wellness coaching, and Reiki.
Holistic medicine has always inspired me, and I feel blessed to help others incorporate these practices into their daily routines. Through my work, I aim to support my community in developing and expanding self-care practices that nurture mind, body, and spirit.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started Mindful Movement Moab, I struggled deeply with imposter syndrome. Moab is home to so many incredible wellness practitioners, and I often found myself questioning, “Why me?” when offering my services to clients.
Over time, I came to understand that each of us brings something unique to the table. Our individuality and diverse approaches are what make this community so special. Recognizing this has been transformative for me. It not only eased my self-doubt but also motivated me to work harder, continuously expand my education, and focus on creating unique, one-of-a-kind experiences for my clients.
Being just one of the many wonderful practitioners in Moab has inspired me to refine my offerings and contribute to the vibrant wellness culture of our town in my own distinct way.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mindful Movement Moab. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mindful Movement Moab is a wellness business dedicated to providing accessible wellness services on a free or sliding-scale basis. Financial accessibility is a cornerstone of my practice, ensuring that wellness is available to everyone in the Moab community, regardless of their financial situation.
Specializing in one-on-one private sessions, I offer a range of personalized services in my office space, including Reiki sessions, meditation, yoga, kava and cacao ceremonies, and mala-making. In addition, Mindful Movement Moab organizes retreats—both private and community-based. These retreats can be tailored as day retreats, weekend getaways, or week-long experiences. Whether held at a location of your choosing or one I arrange, every retreat is customized to meet the size and specific needs of your group.
I believe wellness should be accessible to all bodies and all levels of ability. Mindful Movement Moab is proud to serve clients from all walks of life, striving to create an inclusive space for healing and growth. I also offer free Reiki sessions for Moab locals as a way to give back to my community and contribute to its well-being.
With many sessions available on a sliding-scale payment model, Mindful Movement Moab ensures clients can pay what works best for their budget. This approach aligns with my mission to make wellness services available to all and fosters a sense of healing and connection within our community.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in a small town in rural Missouri, where I developed a deep love for the outdoors, animals, and my family. From a young age, I found joy in caring for the animals on our family’s mini farms and looking after my little cousins. I’ve always felt that being a caregiver is part of who I am.
A free spirit at heart, I was even voted “Most Free Spirited” when I graduated high school. Despite being naturally anxious in social situations, I’ve learned to embrace my boldness and confidence once I feel at ease.
As a young adult, I was drawn to essential oils, healing practices, tarot cards, and all things centered on love and connection. Over time, I fine-tuned my passions and focused on the practices that resonated most deeply with me. I dreamed of a life where I could dedicate myself to being a healer and wellness practitioner.
Today, that dream has come true, and I couldn’t feel more grateful to live a life that aligns with my purpose and passion.
