Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Jensen.
Hi Ethan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up I had a love for sports. I especially loved baseball. I was pretty good and wanted to play in college, but because of an arm injury in High School I was never able to carry out my dream. Since then, I have looked for easy and accessible ways to play, but the only options are going to Boondocks or infiltrating a little league facility. So I went out to create an entertainment based batting cage to help make baseball more accessible to rookie ball players. A fun and easy way to enjoy just the fun parts of baseball.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Its been a relatively smooth road. We had issues with funding and buildout early on but since opening most everyone has loved the idea and the experience.

We are the first high-tech, entertainment-based batting experience in Utah. We have a unique baseball simulator that allows you to step into any stadium and play from our variety of different game modes.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is a funny thing, cause you have to take risks, but you also should mitigate them as best as you can. Based on all my case studies, survey data, and other metrics I knew that The Cage would be a good business. I also felt capable as an individual. But to quit my job and attempt to only make income from this idea was still a risk. And we didn’t know what we could accomplish until it became up and running. But being a single 26 year old, it was an easier risk to take because I don’t have anyone depending on me. And I felt confident that even if The Cage didn’t work, I would be able to pick myself out of the rut.
