Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Kingston.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always had a strong interest in entrepreneurship, but what really set me on the path was when a friend of mine started a window washing company. He asked me to quit my current job and help him with door-to-door sales. Even though neither of us had any experience in the industry, I decided to take the risk and quit my job to join him in sales.
That summer turned out to be a turning point—I discovered I had a real talent for sales, and we ended up doing very well. After the season ended, I took a sales position at a chemical company. While working there, I noticed that they regularly purchased pallets. I saw an opportunity to source pallets myself and sell them to the company at a better price, creating a win-win situation.
The process was surprisingly smooth, and I realized there was real potential in the pallet business. I began reaching out to more companies and gradually built a customer base. Eventually, the business grew to the point where I was able to leave my sales job and focus full-time on running my company.
Today, I continue to operate and grow my pallet business. I’m also partnering with my brother to launch a pressure washing business and recently became a part owner in a lawn care company. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m excited about what’s next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges. One of the biggest setbacks early on was being forced off a property by the city, which disrupted operations and forced me to quickly adapt.
I also made the tough decision to leave a higher-paying job to pursue my business full-time. That meant going without a paycheck for several months while I reinvested every dollar back into the company to keep it growing. On top of that, I got married during this period, which added another layer of responsibility and pressure.
There have been plenty of other hurdles along the way, but each one has helped me grow personally and professionally. Looking back, those struggles have made me more resilient and focused, and they’ve shaped the direction and strength of the businesses I’m building today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Morning Wood Pallets?
My business is called Morning Wood Pallets, and we specialize in a wide range of pallet services. We build new, used, and custom pallets, as well as crates, and we also offer pallet repair and removal services. Whether a client needs standard shipping pallets or unique custom builds, we’re equipped to handle it.
What sets us apart is the level of care we bring to our work and to our customers. We may still be a relatively new company, but we’ve maintained a 100% customer satisfaction rate—and that’s what I’m most proud of. We operate with the mindset that our customers are like family, and we go above and beyond to make sure they’re taken care of.
At the end of the day, our goal isn’t just to provide pallets—it’s to build strong, reliable relationships through quality service, trust, and consistent results.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely—I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and guidance of a few key people.
One person who played a major role early on was a close friend of mine who invited me to join him in launching a window washing company. I took a leap of faith and quit my job to do door-to-door sales with him, even though we were both new to the industry. That experience not only sparked my passion for entrepreneurship, but also gave me the confidence to take risks and develop my skills in sales and business.
More recently, my brother has been a huge source of motivation and support. We’re currently in the process of launching a pressure washing business together, and I’m excited to build something alongside him. His work ethic and shared vision have been incredibly valuable as I continue to grow in my entrepreneurial journey.
I’ve also been fortunate to have friends and peers along the way who offered advice, encouragement, and honest feedback. Having a strong support system has made all the difference in overcoming challenges and staying focused on the bigger picture.
