Exploring Life & Business with Johnathon Eskano of Eskano’s Event Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnathon Eskano.

Hi Johnathon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey as an entrepreneur while working full-time for Uhaul and juggling becoming a father for the first time. I am young but didn’t want to owe or depend on anyone to fulfill my needs. At 18, I started to realize resources were all around me and opportunity was endless. I started a moving service at 18 years of age. Hired friends and family members for large jobs and to save on the cost of all the small jobs I completed solo. At that time, my goals weren’t as large. I needed to purchase a car and furnish my home in preparation for the newborn. I realized I had the urge to work for myself, however, that’s defined.

I then opened a party rental business in south Louisiana utilizing the relationships the developed from my moving service and Uhaul. Realizing later how I scaled my party rental business going from serving one city to serving all of Southern Louisiana. Fast forward Covid came in like a wrecking ball this business wasn’t pandemic-proof. I decided to close the doors and stick them out while maintaining a 9 to 5 that was recognized as essential. I pondered whether to launch my party business again but an opportunity to gain a financial advantage presented itself which landed me and my family in the great state of Utah.

Here, I worked at a logistics company while slowly investing my gains into becoming a Notary Public, Notary Signing Agent, and Field Inspector. All under my business EEz-Notary. This allowed for a greater financial gain which allowed me the opportunity to launch my party business once more.

I wanted to change up my target audience this time around. Eskano’s Event Rentals, our focus is large event rentals and amazing Luxury picnics. I again revisited the resources and relationships developed throughout this time and have officially launched as of June 2023 Eskanos Logistics! My end goal is stability and sustainability for my wife, kids, and grandchildren to come. I’ve always mentioned it starts with an idea and 1 supporter of that idea.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
What fun would it be if it didn’t include challenges or rough patches? I struggle with college trying to maintain my GPA, while becoming a new dad, and keeping incoming flowing into my home.

The Covid pandemic was unmatchable and unpredictable. Relocating to a new state with different demographics made it harder to scale.

As you know, we’re big fans of Eskano’s Event Rentals. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Eskano’s Event Rentals was constructed after a forced closed business, as a result of the covid pandemic. Before where my focus is now the goal was to cater to backyard parties, festivals, birthday parties, family gatherings, and large outdoor events. We supplied everything from obstacle courses, bouncy houses, and water slides, to general rental equipment like tables, chairs, and party games.

Now, we have grown and developed. With some of the same ideas but now focused more on creativity. We offer some of the same rentals with the addition of Bars, backdrops, Commercial Canopies, Karaoke, and our popular Luxury Picnics. I feel the greatest minds when speaking of creativity come from my hometown of New Orleans, LA. When I have a vision I stop and bring it to life.

There’s no time like the present time and it keeps my ideas fresh for all customers to come. Most of all I love doing what I do. Just like my customer can enjoy my creative ideas and arrangements, I have the same if not great enjoyment of witnessing a finished product. I amaze myself each time.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I’m sure you’ve heard it before the reward after the risk is so satisfying. You have to be willing to take chances. Go with your gut sometimes and you’ll surprise yourself.

I take chances because if I’m not willing to bet on myself I can’t expect my family to do the same. They have to be comfortable knowing I’m going to bring them to the next level and open the door for each of us to grow further.
