Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Joy.
Hi Jordan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
While I was in high school I had the opportunity to take an accounting class as one of my elective classes. I had no idea what accounting was or why I decided to take that class, but it completely changed my life. As I continued my accounting education into college I realized just how important the field is for individuals as well as business owners. I decided that I wanted to help people understand their taxes and help those with small businesses to accurately report the financial position of their business. I went on to attain the necessary education by completing my masters degree in accounting and becoming a licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant). Shortly after that, I started Bayview Tax to help my clients clearly understand their financial picture.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel that the road has been smooth for the most part especially as time goes on. One of the biggest struggles I had in the beginning was finding clients, which I think is a big struggle for a lot of new businesses. It can be especially hard when running a business that requires a lot of trust with an individual’s financial information. The best way I was able to overcome this challenge was when I acquired my first few clients. After I had completed a few tax returns many clients were impressed by the price, accuracy, and service of Bayview Tax. They began to tell their friends and family about their experience who then became clients as well. As my client base has grown the growth has been exponential as old and new clients continue to share my contact information with others.

Bayview Tax offers many different services for helping individuals and business owners with tax preparation as well as ongoing accounting support. The main clients I help are everyday people as well as small business owners. My biggest goal when starting Bayview Tax was not only to file taxes and prepare financial statements, but help people really understand their finances. I think that one thing that sets my business apart from other tax preparation businesses is that I take the time to make sure my clients understand their taxes and am always available to answer any questions they may have. When working with me, you will be able to get the one-on-one attention your finances may need and you can feel comfortable and confident with the services I provide.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The thing that I love the most about my city is that it still feels like a small town in a lot of ways. No matter where you go you will usually run into someone you know. For that very reason it helps me as a business owner be able to succeed from those connections. As I continue to service more amazing clients within this community they will share their experiences with their family, friends, and neighbors within the community which I appreciate so much. One thing that can be hard is that our city is experiencing a lot of growth right now. While it can be a positive at times, it also occasionally leads to traffic, long lines at the grocery store, etc. That growth can definitely be an opportunity for my business though because as we continue to gain businesses and individuals moving into our neighborhood, I can have the opportunity to connect with them and have the possibility of working with them.
