Today we’d like to introduce you to Josue Garcia Ruelas
Hi Josue, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I used to work in excavation and would dread and hate my days at work.
Mainly because I saw that no matter how much work I put in I would never receive the same back whether it was raises or bonuses. I was just another employee that could get replaced at any time.
So after some research I decided I wanted to start taking the real estate course, I would work on it during my breaks at work and when I would get home. It was like that for 7 months until I finally finished it and took my test.
It took me more than 4-5 times to pass my tests, let me tell you it was a struggle and a lot of thoughts of failure going through my head. But thankfully I passed it and the best was yet to come.
You’d probably think I would take it slowly and start it as a part time job until I would start to pick up no? Well let me tell you it was the opposite.. I’ve always been a risk taker and knew I had to go all in! I saved up some money in case things went south and started it full time right away.
Fast forward now 1 year later I have closed 14 homes and I couldn’t be more thankful to God and all the families I have helped for all these blessings they have brought me. I am a first generation Mexican-American that went for my dreams and is completing them slowly as I go. I just needed to take that one risk to change the trajectory of my life.
My words of wisdom I can offer would be take more risks, don’t be a normal person, and fight for what you want. It creates a different type of hunger when things are not given to you and you have to go out there and show people who you are. Don’t be normal be different.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. There has definitely been a lot of pot holes and bridges needed to be created. Some challenges and obstacles have been
1. fighting with my mind thinking I’m not good enough or doing enough. Mental health is very important in this career.
2. Change of job: Excavation is very different than being a Realtor. One job is physical and the other is mental. There would be days I would want to quit because I felt I was not doing anything since everything I ever did was work physically. I would feel embarrassed to say I worked from home, it was definitely very difficult to overcome.
3. If I didn’t close any deals there would be no money and I would have to find another job. This job is based on commission pay so you have to be ready to go months without getting paid and living below your means.
4. Family and friends not believing in me. There was a lot of people that didn’t think I would make it or would talk negative thoughts to me trying to push me away. I never understood it because I already knew all the bad that could happen, the least they could do was just be supportive. At the end of the day it’s my life and risk not theirs, right?
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Realty With Josue?
I am a Realtor in the state of Utah.
I specialize in helping first time home buyers, sellers and investors.
I like giving my clients the best experience possible. They are who keep my business running and keep my name known. I like my clients to know that if they don’t feel comfortable working with me they are not obligated to.
It is one.. if not (the) biggest purchases of their life and it is my job to make them feel happy, understood, and educated before, during and after. They can always reach out to me with their questions.
Another big thing that sets me apart is that I like giving good closing gifts that will be used, and not your regular bakery/coffee shop bought basket. I like giving TV’s, BBQ Grills, Furniture, to name a few.
What’s next?
My plans for the future is to keep growing my business and helping more families reach responsible home ownership, but most importantly keeping the same principles of keeping my clients happy, understood, cared for and educated.
