Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassie Nielson
Hi Kassie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up on an alfalfa farm in Fairview, Utah, where both of my parents were from farming families—my dad worked as a coal miner, and my mom was a school teacher. I spent a lot of my childhood raising steers, which taught me the value of hard work and responsibility. My family’s work ethic had a big influence on me and shaped my own drive to work hard.
I always knew I wanted to go to college, but with four kids in the family, my parents couldn’t afford to pay for all of our education. So, I worked really hard to earn academic scholarships, and I also competed in the Miss America Organization. I ended up placing 4th runner-up at Miss Utah, and those pageant winnings helped pay for my entire undergraduate education.
When I was 21, I started nursing school, but about halfway through, I got divorced. Suddenly, I was responsible for taking care of my entire household. To make ends meet, I worked full-time night shifts at Utah Valley Hospital’s ER as a critical care tech while finishing nursing school. Despite the challenges, I graduated as an RN and ended up staying at that same hospital, working in the ER for the past 10 years. I’ve held various roles like Charge Nurse, Trauma Nurse, Psych Tech Manager, and Stop-the-Bleed Instructor. That experience gave me the grit and confidence I needed to eventually start my own business.
Four years ago, I launched “Wet IV,” a concierge IV drip company that also offered peptides, weight loss, and NAD+ therapy. As I grew my business, I decided to become a Family Nurse Practitioner so I could have more control over my practice and eventually take on the role of Medical Director. While in NP school, I was introduced to Ketamine Therapy for mental health, which turned out to be a game-changer for me. I had just come out of an emotionally abusive relationship and was struggling with PTSD, and ketamine therapy was one of the most effective tools I’d found.
That’s when my best friend, Heidi Childs, who I met in nursing school, introduced me to the therapy. She’s a seasoned pediatric ICU nurse with a degree in psychology, and ketamine therapy had helped her with 16 years of postpartum depression. In April 2024, Heidi and I teamed up to create “Reverie: Ketamine & Infusion”, a company that specializes in ketamine mood infusions, hydration drips, weight loss, peptides, men’s testosterone replacement, and NAD+ therapies. This is the company we run together now, and we’re both passionate about helping people improve their mental and physical health.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up in rural Utah with little to no resources was challenging, but it also fueled my drive and ambition. Unfortunately, that ambition often made me a target for bullying, mostly from adults, who couldn’t understand why I was so determined to push for more. I also faced mental health struggles along the way, which only added to the weight of everything. Working nights while attending school was exhausting, especially when I was navigating the emotional toll of my divorce. I had to pay for school entirely on my own, which added another layer of stress. Along with that, I experienced abusive relationships that took a toll on my self-confidence and made me question my worth. It was a constant battle between self-doubt and the desire to prove to myself that I was capable of achieving more, despite the obstacles.
When I started my own business, I had to learn everything from scratch—building operations, managing finances, and figuring out how to scale. One of the toughest challenges I faced was hiring employees who didn’t share the same drive or vision, which slowed growth and made me question whether I was doing it right. But despite these setbacks, I kept pushing forward, determined to create something that could thrive. As the business grew, so did my confidence, and I began to trust myself more. Overcoming those early struggles—whether personal or professional—taught me resilience and the importance of believing in my own abilities.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Reverie is a trusted provider of ketamine and infusion services in Provo, Utah. Our modern facility offers a range of innovative treatments to help people feel better. Our team is made up of highly trained professionals dedicated to providing personalized care. Whether you’re exploring ketamine therapy, infusion services, testosterone support, or weight loss treatments, we aim to make your experience smooth and straightforward.
What sets Reverie apart is that we promise you’ll always talk to a real person—no phone trees or automated systems. We’ve been patients at other wellness and ketamine clinics ourselves, and we noticed a lot of things were missing when it came to comfort and process. That’s why we’re extra selective about who works with us. We bring a lot of experience in trauma and critical care, and we focus on skills that truly make a difference for our patients.
Our clinic was created by first responders for first responders, with a mission to help reduce the suicide rate in Utah. We’re all about helping everyone, not just a select few. The people we set out to reach have found us, and that’s something we’re really proud of.
All of our services work together to help heal both the body and mind. Sometimes achieving optimal health means combining multiple treatments. And as a thank you to those who serve our community, we offer 20% off our Ketamine mood infusions for first responders (healthcare workers, police, fire, ski patrol, veterans, etc.).
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I absolutely love the quote, “Do one thing every day that scares you,” by Eleanor Roosevelt. When I think about how I grew up in rural Utah, life was simple but never without its challenges. Growing up on a farm, you get used to doing hard work and stepping up when things need to be done, but that doesn’t mean you’re not sometimes scared or uncertain. In fact, I think that’s what makes it so powerful—there’s always something new that pushes you out of your comfort zone, and learning to embrace that is key.
When I decided to start my own business, it definitely felt like one of those “scary” moments. I had no guarantees, and it was stepping away from the safety of the farm life I knew so well. But I remember thinking about that quote—if I didn’t take the risk, I’d always wonder what could have been. And honestly, if I could be brave enough to face the challenges of rural life, I could take a chance on this.
It wasn’t always easy, and there were plenty of moments that made me nervous, but I think the fear of not trying was scarier than the fear of failing. Looking back, I’m proud that I didn’t let fear hold me back. It’s a reminder that sometimes the scariest things can lead to the most rewarding experiences.
